Right, after a week driving my mothers 1.2 Purple Fiesta i cant get this done soon enough.

Got the little end off the car and tacked it on:

Offered it up and it was sport on, not bad for doing it by eye.

Back off the car, and properly welded up and covered in Hammerite:

If Hammerite survived being on the 200s callipers round Snetterton it aught to survive a clio exhaust, either that or smell really bad while it burns off :/

Gave the rest of the exhuast a clean with the angle grinder brush and discovered this:

I think i may be on a hiding to nowhere with this exhaust anyhow:

My welding isn't usually that bad honest, just had to have the welder turned down to min so it didnt keep blowing holes in what was left.

Welded the mount back on (again low power thin metal :/ )

While a was waiting for the paint to dry i sat in the sun and cleaned the thread on all the bolts and on the bottom of the car with my Lidl Tap & Die set, a little extra prep prevents a lot of swearing when laying under the car holding the exhaust with one hand a trying to get the damn bolts back in.

And tada:

It remains to be seen/smelt if the Hammerite was a good idea:

Total spent:

MOT Time Fails!

Rear discs dead
Rear pads 1mm (yeah ok, was taking the piss a bit expecting that to pass).
Front pads uneven wear, brake imbalance
NSR Shock leaking badly
Exhaust Blowing again, failed lambda test (might be worse than just the exhaust).
Front lower suspension balljoint excesive play

Now the good news:
4 Mintex Discs and Pads with bearings already pressed in and new abs rings

Thank fudge the rain stayed away, all done and ready for re-test.

Ball joints were a total ball ache, the rest of it was simple, (mostly)damn easy to work on these Clios.

I take it rooney aka nigel got through the re-test ok?
Clio`s are simple to work on and the ball joints are easy with two jacks.;)

yup, thats what i ended up with, one under the wishbone, one under the hub.

passed.

now the thermostat seems to be stuck... it looks easy enough to do, just dont fancy doing it till its warmer. Temp gauge is stuck at 1/3rd, and fuel economy has dropped to 27ish so im guessing its that. Service time due anyway, maybe ill just run it for a bit, so at least the water'll be warm :)

Hmmm 1 year later and the NSR shock is pissing oil again, brand new Renault part 1 year ago. Bloody French cars!

Damed if I'm doing both, again.

Crikey chief! I would put that down to shit bad luck mate. I dont think i have had to change a leaking rear shock in the last ten years on one. Still at least they are piss easy to change once you have popped over to cit-ren and picked up another one. ;)
