After being given a Helix clutch for free from a mate, Today was the day to find out whether it was the clutch at fault or if i'd managed to destroy yet another gearbox.
Tim Farmer (ex Zen Performance) arrived and proceeded to remove the box and have a look see at what damage i'd managed to do to it this time

If the box required a strip and rebuild then the car would be back in the garage for the foreseeable future

Next up was good and bad news...
Bad news first,
Sadly the clutch i'd been (gratefully) given was out of a STi 6 speed box but was a five speed item and wouldn't fit my 6spd flywheel. On the plus side Tim has a 5 speed flywheel which he's giving me FOC & will bring over and fit in a couple of weeks + it gives me a chance to sort a few issues that need addressing.
Good news,
Apart from the worn synchros, it appears that the box is good and it was the clutch that shat itself (which is a hooge relief). Despite the disappointment of it not being back on the road today it cheered me up no end to see the state of the clutch when removed.
The friction plate, apart from being down to the rivets has almost broken into 2 pieces and the pressure plate is a everso slightly worn

PS
If anyone wants a proper (no bullshit and throughly knowledegable Subaru tech) then I can recommend Tim without question.
Bring on November 10th when the Scoob will live again, wooo-fucking-hooo
