bucket seat for the larger gentleman will be the sparco evo 2 or evo 3 , i have the evo2 and fit in it but would prefer the 3 tbh
as for pads i'v heard mixed reviews for the yellows but good things about the carbotech's , you need something that will bite from cold if sprinting (obviously) :)
good to hear your sticking with the 2 for now

Nice one Dan:D. Don't forget to check your lid to make sure it complies with the new regs.

Good stuff Dan

What size R888's do you need?

Great advice from Russ about not over spec'ing the car needlessly.......these bloody things are dear enough as it is, let alone us overdoing it (I'm a fine one to talk, of course)

If the TSS is an MSA approved series, I can't see how you won't need a fully compliant lid but I guess you'll have checked it properly so I'll shut up :D

Hi Dan, not read the full 20 pages, but gather you're readying the car & yourself for TSS next year, happy days!

From what i understand there won't be much changes from the 2009 regs, if they are going to do anything to change bits it's most likely to be to do with the classification between class A1 & A2, but without having the 2010 regs out yet nothing is 100%.
When someone asked about helmet regs, Adrian/Bazza said it would be the same as last year.

5-2, Crash helmet
The requirement for the Toyota Sprint Series is a helmet conforming to BS6658 Type A ( blue & white BSI sticker), AFR ( red & white BSI sticker) or Snell SA2000.

I got a clutchmaster FX300 & it puts up with a fair bit of abuse off the line. That said i am running a shade over 300BHP, so it's probably overkill for your Two (unless you've snuck a turbo on there). It's took a bit of getting used to, it does slip a bit when you want it to in traffic, but not as much of a biting point as a stock clutch. Going for a lightened flywheel at the same time was going to change the characteristics of the way the clutch felt, even if i had gone for another stock clutch. I haven't had it in long enough to comment on it's lifecycle, but it's had a year of competition launcehs without protesting yet. (went to a 6 puck rahter than 4 as it's a bit more driveable on the road).
I had an N/A MR2, didn't develop it much (still got it sat about needing much love & a clutch) but the best thing i did was to de-cat, never had it on the rollers for a before & after, but even my mechanic who made the custom (read pikey-bodge) decat said he thought it had transformed it.That said it was a Rev1 with a 3SFE engine, so i couldn't get many bits to improve it.

If you want any TSS related pointers feel free to ask me whatever (doens't mean i've got all the answers, but I'll tell you what i can).

yeah should be a right laugh when the cars done :D plus ill get to meet you too ;)

that sounds okay then if adrian/bazza said it would be the same, i spoke to lou + barry sheldrick about it and they said a standard lid would be okay too. but to double check heres a shot of the sticker on mine;

Image

so that means im okay as you quoted BS6658 Type A ( blue & white BSI sticker) is one of the ones i need :smash:

again lou and barry recommended the fx300 for me and fiar play to them they said thats it overspec'd for my car but it will put up with alot of abuse, so i'm seeing both sides and benifits of the fx300 and standard toyota clutch. but what will be best for me considering im planning a fair bit of track time next year aswell as road miles too? (about 12k) im guessing what russ says will be better having a standard unit, because mines lasted 140k and still going as long as you dont slam it in gears

also i know of some benifits of a lightened flywheel, but would say a cheap 'stage 1' if you will flywheel yeild many benifits for the 2?

ive noticed with my new system and intake how much more lively the car feels with response and sudden power through the range, its brilliant. but even with my 3S-GE like your 3S-FE theres only so much you can get from it without spending a fortune or swapping units.

thanks for the advice offer, one thing i'm still not sure on though, do i need to buy fireproofs, or can i (like trackdays) get away with long sleeves and jeans?

thanks for the advice guys :)

Class A lid is spot on, it's what most people go for in TSS.

I don't know how a stock clutch will put up with multiple sprint launches, i never used my MR2 for competition, so have no idea how long a stock clutch will last. It could do really well, or it could get warm & protest. I honestly don't know how much time the clutch abuse might be worth off the line anyway???
I'd say if you're car is a "daily driver" & you have to do much stop/start town driving a FX300 will become a bit of a pain in the arse.

A lightened flywheel is supposed to reduce the rotational mass & subsequently let the engine rev up slightly quicker, so less power loss between the engine & wheels.(I think? If someone knows more / can explain better, please do).
The disadvantages are, it requires more revs to pull away "normally" & the revs drop off quicker between gear changes. Neither of which are a problem when going full chat on a track, but can again be a PITA when driving daily.

TSS 2009 regs only called for firproofs in class A1 which are the most leary motors. So it's highly unlikely you will need overalls & long sleves & covered legs was all that was required. However as 2010 regs aren't out yet can't say 100%.
I have a set of overalls & although i dont HAVE to wear them, i generally do.

Looking forward to seeing another BigPower in the TSS padock
