1989 Celica GT-Four - Update:April 2008 Rebuild commences
well, ive finished soldering the ecu connectors and plugged the motec in. the car cranks but i cannot communicate with the ecu via the RS232 cable. no matter what i try it just ignores me.
bastard.
back to the drawing board tomorrow with crocodile clips and soldering iron. lets just hope this isnt a duff ecu...

gary, its an M4 and ive checked the wiring on the PCB itself (RS232 port wired directly off it). the guy i bought it off said it needs the older M4 software to communicate so i will be trying that tomorrow (downloaded about 8 old versions to try).
the serial port is definitely connected 100% as per manual specs...

its alive!
the ecu that is, not the car as a whole. there must be a problem in the car wiring as ive hooked the ecu up to a battery and its working fine.
i wasnt sure of this when i bought it, but its the Pro version with all the advanced tuning features enabled too...things like:-
higher resolution tables
wideband lambda control
launch and traction control
anti lag
512k of data logging
and probably other stuff too
