Sounds like you've got off pretty well considering..

As Bubble says MOT garages have problems when police officers issue these forms as this is not what the Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme was intended for.. It was intended for wear and tear items (tyres, windscreens, exhausts, lights, etc) if found to be defective when you were stopped, you could get them fixed and checked at an MOT garage and then the money would go back into your car in lieu of prosecution.

If the car is modified illegally (window tints, numberplates, lights) then they recommend prosecution in way of a ticket or report for summons, however the officer still has his right of discrection and can warn you about it!

It seems that you were stopped by a fair cop and he's given you the option of getting the work changed and checked, which you've done so there should be no futher problems! If however you were to be stopped by him again then he'd probably throw the book at you for not listening to his advice.

The numberplate offence would of been

also what is the law on number plates? can you have them stuck on the bonnet, if using the right backing, letters and spaces?

Hmm, I heard that all sticky numberplates are illegal as they are not placed near vertical so the "frikkin" laser beam guns can't have a nice flat surface to refract against!

May be wrong tho!

Here is a usefull link to the number plate regulations http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/leafle ... plates.pdf

I keep a printed copy of these in the glovebox, because as mine is an "import" it can have smaller number plates :D
