dynamix, you are seriously in need of a thermocouple and a DVM that will read its output:
A nice skinny probe like this will fit between joins in your boost pipes to give you air temps, and putting the tip against the tyre wil give you the surface temperatures you're after: http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/ ... ku=1010221
By the time you've bought the thermocouple, temp compensated connectors and leads, and the thing to read the output you'd have spent more than that costs!

You need to know the temp across the tyre surface to learn anything.
