I reckon that could be it. Oh well I'm off to try out the HID light conversion I fitted this morning. (I couldn't wait for it to get dark, am I sad or what?)

Ben can you explain a bit more about this conversion affecting the HICAS as i have not heard of this before?
In the 32 for definitely - converting to MPH will mean that the ECU will be thinking in KM's .. eventhough the speedo is showing MPH, i.e. if you are doing 120 MPH - the ECU is thinking you are doing 70 MPH, thus respond differently.

On mine before I reverted to KMH, the steering stayed in light parking mode for sometime - now it becomes heavy almost immediately ... also with regards the Hicas - I've read articles of the car basically assisting in a crash by kicking the rear end out because of it receiving the wrong speed information.

all these driving aids sounds complicated... i'll just stick with my active diff, yaw sensor, steering angle sensor and internal gyro :D

Yep - speed sensitive PAS - that's the best description ... light for parking, moderate for normal and hardcore for the track ... gotta love those japs - the conversion to MPH seems to change the speed that the 'changes' occur.
