Next step, get the turbo back on! I need to clean up the V band for this, also I am thinking while I have got the turbo off replacing the oil return line. I had to replace the oil feed line when I got the car due to the rubber within it cracking and causing it to leak. I was recommended http://www.pirtek.co.uk/ by Gary @ APT for getting these lines made up, the feed line pirtek made up for the feed is far superior to what was on there so a big thumbs up for pirtek from me as well.

As I mentioned, I found that the coolant had no antifreeze in it so I have drained the system for now. I have been worried come freezing winter temps I would need a rebuild! While the coolant is out I am going to replace the temp sender for one of my gauges as thats bust.

Nothing hugely exciting I know, however once I have all this done I might get the Rex on the rollers and find out what shes putting out!

A bit more progress tonight now I have all the parts to continue....

Got the turbo back on...

This should have been simple (famous last words), the drain line made things fun as this needs to be aligned and partly screwed before you can start screwing anything down. But to screw the sodding drain line you had to have the turbo off its studs, then once its screwed on you cant lift the turbo high enough to get it on the studs. At this point I resorted to name calling.

After abit of thought after a tea and biscuit pit stop I just unscrewed the exhaust manifold which gave me enough wiggle room to get things in.

However I dropped one of the flipping nuts and I cant find it, looks like thats my morning sorted!

When I bought the car it came with the bose system in the boot but it wasent rigged up, I dug out an old amp and wired it up the other day as well so I will have a system that doesnt sound like someones mobile playing music!

Image

Plan is to tomorrow try and find the missing nut and tighten everything, fit the downpipe and v band, fill the car up with some coolant and job done! All in time for Karting at 3pm with some mates!

Wish me luck...

Got a few more bits done....

Got the turbo and manifold all tightened up... Things were abit tight to say the least I had to start modding some of my old tools...

Got the v band and downpipe all fitted and filled the car up with coolant and put all the IC hoses back on, which left me with...

Got all excited and ready to start the car and the battery is flat, doh! So thats on charge and tomorrow night I will be starting the car for the first time since doing all this work, once shes running bleed the coolant system. Slightly scared and just racking my brain to think if there is anything I have forgotten!

Hehe hand bags at dawn gents! ;)

Which picture you referring to Gareth? :) In the second pic the two blue hoses are coolant stub hoses which just close off coolant passages which are not in use anymore, the black one is coolant related but I am not sure where it goes.

I think the combination of me playing about with the head unit and leaving the car stood and not driving it killed the battery! Ah well, to be honest I didnt have the time tonight to bleed the system anyway. I tell you though, I under estimated how much of a pain it is to line the down pipe and V band. I am just glad I have got a garage full of junk which I ended up using for supports to get it all lined up.

After I get all of this sorted I will be speaking to the guys at H-tech I think to work out how much I need to save to get some bodywork bits sorted.
