TNTRacing - XRCosworth
Re: TNTRacing - XRCosworth Classic & Retro Time Attack Champions
Yes I have. Our newest sponsor Turbo Technics the owner will also be a direct competitor in his 3dr 24v twin turbo 4x4 Sierra. As far as we know we has 530bhp available and close to 500 lbs/ft. He comes from hill climbing and sprints. We know we'll be quicker this season as the control tyre rule should benefit us more than others due to what we used last year.

I suppose your prior TA experience and track time on the various circuits also helps a hell of a lot.

Hope so. Either way I think it's it's going to an interesting year and I believe that Ron Kiddell's son Steve will be making an appearance in our class at some point in the season.

You're lucky that didn't land on your head when it fell out of the sky....there must be a jumbo jet somewhere that's missing one of it's engines!

Wow......We keep saying that there is more performance in the car without upping the power. Handling and set up changes. I just was just doing a bit of research into sector times / speed traps etc.
Speed trap across start/finish line, Brands Hatch 2015
Ex. AMD Volkswagen Golf BTCC car - 125 mph
Tntracing Sierra - 122 mph

Cool, how do they both compare currently over a full lap?
Is there anywhere that stands out where the Sierra could claw back some lost time?

BTCC Golf - 52.2
Tntracing - 57.2
Alan's fastest lap was set in the morning Practise session when he damaged 1 of the semi slicks, after which he had to switch to our road tyres so there's a bit more time in there to be had.
We know exactly where we are loosing time and that's in the corners. Our fast road setup is long overdue an upgrade, complete replacement. Alan was having to turn in earlier than everyone else to stop the car under steering and we also suffered massively from tyre fold as well as the car bouncing mid corner.
To improve turn in we have fitted adjustable track control arms to allow some negative camber to be dialled in. Then we need to get a set of coil overs and have them set up for the car.
The final piece of the puzzle will be tyres. Last season we were running the cheapest semi slicks you could buy and even though they were better than our worn 888's they were still behind the competition.
Once we get all these areas addressed I'm hoping to see a big improvement in times. This year I'm setting a target lap time of 54 sec. as along as we can get on top of setting the car up quickly.

Re: TNTRacing - XRCosworth
bit more of an update on the car.
all the welding has been done on the drivers side of the car.
foot well sections all welded in

floor and inner sill sections had all made up and welded into place.

painted the exposed metal areas then covered that over with stonechip, seen this on wheeler dealers once and it was much tougher then paint and scratch resistant.

turbo has been refitted and after all the cutting and grinding in the garage the engine was a real mess so gave it a clean.

today primed the car with oil before actually firing it up as the turbo was dry and the engine not been turned over since December.
got the car out the garage and new it was dirty but out in the day light it was horrendous, covered on the above mentioned.

jet washed the car before giving it a hand was otherwise would scratched the hell out the car.

all clean now ready for its MOT on Saturday.

last thing to sort out before MOT is the tracking as its slightly out which hopefully sort tomorrow.
