V8 Supercars 2016

Post by maff »

Just been watching the 2015 season review, some great racing, but 2016 starts with a bit of a bummer.

ford Australia are just talking a load a crap in my opinion its not like its the UK were we don't run V8 engines over there they do so how can it not be relevant to there cars?
I absolutely love the previous falcon and just gutted we don't get the development series to watch over here.

I can see 2017 just becoming another GT series, Nissan will go to V6 turbos, Volvo 5cylinder turbo and ford cars DJRTP will probably go ecoboost as that what they run in nascar.

as for running the mustang I don't think it will work as its not very aerodynamic at the front and you hardly see any in race series.

good news on chaz as he's been out racing go karts for the last few weeks so I hope he is a Clipsal 500 but just hope he is not rushing himself.

with only 3 weeks left till the start of a new season teams are getting out there new liveries out and to be honest not many have changed
just slightly tinkered with.

think the biggest news is erebis motorsport have switched from merc to holdens this season.
think they should have stayed with merc as the cars were getting better they just needed better engine performance as it handled really well.

I do like the look of the new Volvo livery, it does really look like a race car.
I'm a fan of james moffat and really hope he does well this season.

In case you're wondering- Motors TV has disappeared from the SKY listings, and on their Twitter feed they only mention Freeview HD ch240 from now on. :banghead:

You can "find" the channel through SKY, as it's still broadcasting- it's just no longer on their guide and you can no longer record it-

Services -> System setup-> Add channels

Set frequency to 11.082
Polarisation to H
Symbol rate to 22.000
FEC to 5/6

Press Select to search for channels, select Motors TV and it'll appear in the "Other channels" in the Services menu.

or

Options -> Add channels

Set frequency to 11.082
Polarisation to H
Symbol rate to 22.000
FEC to 5/6
Standard to DVB-S
Modulation scheme to QPSK

Press Yellow to search for channels, select Motors TV and it'll appear in the "Other channels" in the Options menu.
Finishing off the Ford ;)

The short version is "Motors TV refused to Pay Sky to stop dicking about with their entry in the planning guide so sky kicked them off, they hope to be back."

Seems like the big man crushing the little people. :auto:

Annoying timing, but did they actually have a 2016 V8 Contract or are we jumping to conclusions, hate to see BT swallow it into it's void of "No one is watching" like MotoGP.

Maff BT already show V8supercars as they have a contract with fox sports to show all events live.
I only noticed it half way through last season.

According to this site they did, along with BT, although anything can change I guess- http://f1broadcasting.co/contracts/

Like you Matt- no way I'm paying for BT, and no easy way of recording it, so I'm in the same camp as you.

There's always this:

$39.95AUD or roughly £20 for the year.
