Ha, yeah it is a bit like a chase isn't it, great to get vids from 2 cars together.

It's really predictable tbh pez, and because of the way the 4wd works if you keep your foot in it stays sideways but still accelerates which I don't really understand but it works. I was playing around that day and decided I must be able to do corum faster so instead of holding a stady throttle as the car felt like it was at the limit I tried giving it loads of welly and it just went faster, and more sideways, so I kept trying that and then nearly crashed, so i stopped trying it. That's where I need malc to do some data analysis....

The first week I owned my GTR I went and did a javelin 'trackday' at Sculthorpe airfield. I'm sure Gareth was with me - there was a particular part of the layout that allowed me to drive through sideways beautifully. Even then with 280bhp and the standard 2wd / 4wd transistion it was lovely and controllable.

Later when it was running near 440 and had the skylab, I would start on setting 1 and each lap up it a notch until it would come out of the corners sideways then a quick flick of the wheel to go straight again, happy times.

That's probably one of the best videos I've seen. You looked like you were having so much fun, both of you. Thanks for sharing.

Yep, I'll stay in the garage and you can let me have your data after each run :)

.. not really, strap me in a hit the pedal, good catching up the other day. I just missed getting your final flurry through Murrays on video.

Ha, thanks Pez

Although it's great fun I don't really like running the car on airfileds, it was quite rough at North Weald and I felt like I was breaking it as it's so stiff. As it turned out this may be true as I heard some clonking and investigation revealed the adjustable top arms have come loose. This may not be caused by the bumps, it may just have highlighted it. I have had trouble before as I use shitty ebay top arms that we then cut as nothing off the shelf will give me the camber I want. So I may be in for another allignment session... annoying

Some updates

As I'm still creating lots of heat in my brakes causing crazing on the front discs I got some temp guages from AP and put them on today. they're just sticker strips but are great, going to put one on the rear diff too, will be good to see what kind of temp everything is running up too

Image

I also got some Michelin slicks fitted to the spare wheels as killed the khumos at weald (unsurprisingly). They're slightly bigger than before and were donated by Darren who races Ron at RKs old R32, now RWD and aero'd up. We were having a tyre discussion and I explained how I was unimpressed last time I ran the michelins. He was surprised and gave me a set in a sixe he can't run any more to try. If good I will buy a new set. Now I have the data logger I can actually see what difference they make to the 100th of a second too

I also made a few purchases that attach to me rather than the car....

I'd been thinking about getting a new lid for a while for a number of reasons. 1, mine is v old. 2, I get a lot of neck ache so wondered if a light carbon lid would help (although having driven the car to the silverstone classic the other week - I was on ITV4 by the way if anyone watched it :coolgleamA:
I realise it may be the angle of my seat thats doing it, going to look at changing it), 3, I have been thinking about a HANS device.

Anyway, on tip off from Malcom I found HAwke motorsport who sold me this bad boy full carbon lid with hans posts and a blue visor for £400. Loving it

So obviously also had to get a HANS so bought this Scroth one again from Hawke who did a decent price on it.

All I need to do now is get out on circuit but having just moved to a new company I'm not seeing much opportunity.... typical
