What a hassle that sounds. It's something that has always worried me about buying an import, the availability of parts. Sounds like you're getting there though and hopefully be able to fire her up in the not to distant future. Keep at it it will be worth it in the end.

Yeah it's almost there mate.

I've found that the later JDM zeds had quite a few changes over earlier models, and more so with this one being a JDM TT/manual/short wheel base

and the user manuals that are available online are predominantly for the more common earlier UK spec long wheel base models. Not to mention of course, there are plenty of arrogant self proclaimed zed experts out there who are full of duff information and more than happy to lead you down a rabbit hole in an effort to inflate their own egos.

At least I've been able to expand my own knowledge by building this one myself and learning (slowly) as I go.

How is that gearbox build coming along?

Had a phone call today saying it's ready, so we are collecting it in the morning. Mind you I am not too happy at the moment as the final bill is double what he quoted.

Ah that reminds me I've got every edition of the manual in pdf Pez including later editions I'll email a 95+ one over.

I've just been onto Lee again to try and get a reply on the PS pump failing that I'm in my workshop next week so I'll look at Baz's stash.

I'll get some proper pics up shortly, it's been a busy couple of days. The fuel system is going in now

The last few bits of the engine are now fitted. A few unexpected replacement parts were required.
As always they had to come from the US.

Marty came up trumps with a replacement PAS pump that comes as standard on this particular model of zed. So many thanks for that bud!!

I still have to replace a handful of loom connectors (repairing the loom has been a tedious job) but it's 95% complete now.

Then FINALLY the engine and box can go back in.

This whole process has taken a ridiculously long time and I've lost interest more times than I can count. To be fair I still can't be fucked to work on it and am operating on auto pilot at the moment just to get it done.

Lots of shit to contend with this end so at least it's keeping my mind occupied.

I'm happy to report though that there's not much left to do. Far less than I initially thought really.

I've got a workbench full of braided PAS hoses, oil cooler hoses, fuel lines, clutch lines, brake lines and Accusump hoses just waiting to go on, all thanks to 'Torques' of Abergavenny who have been very helpful.

All going well I'll have something worthy of a real update shortly

Just glad to hear that it's getting closer to being done. This is where I have to thank Alan cause if it was up to me we would have spent longer getting the car looking all nice and tidy. Where as Alan doesn't care that much about looks as long as it works.

Do you know what mate you're right, it was an alternator that you sent (the CZP pulley didn't fit) I need some sleep.

They've both been off and on several times this week due to cross threaded bolts and sliced belts

The PAS pump belts have been the latest issue due to wrong parts, inconsistent part numbers and confusion over left hand drive/right hand drive/NA/TT and pre '94 vs post 94.

I think (and my apologies if I'm losing the plot through groggy headedness) but I think it might be Christian that I owe thanks to for the PAS pump, I think he threw it in along with the clutch and heads years ago.

Regardless that PAS pump has saved a lot of head banging as it is the right pump for the third belt that I ended up getting

I suppose it's understandable, when he's driving around a bend at over a tonne he can be forgiven for being more concerned about the nuts and bolts being tight as opposed to being photogenic.
Then again there's a lot to be said for having a good looking car to rest your 1st place silverware on.
