Re: Wrx Sti Type R V5
When I had my Scooby wheels done there was 3 or 4 different gold shades to pick from. Luckily I got the right colour.
Re: Wrx Sti Type R V5
Think spoke too soon, noise still there!!!, time to change diff
Re: Wrx Sti Type R V5
Some top news on the wheels, they confirmed that they had been given the wrong period colour - there plan is to paint a couple of their spares then I can select the one that is correct and they will redo mine. Can't say fairer than that.
Re: Wrx Sti Type R V5
Not really an update - gave her a little wash down and thought i'd take some pics.
Wheels are still to be redone - I think Subaru really made a good choice with the standard 5 spokes, even though
I really like the look with the 18inch Revolutions that I use in summer, the standard wheels do it for me.
I do plan to replace the original quarter panel decals, the small sti logos under the indicators and the rear
wrx decal, but for now I'm loving her naked
.
The exterior trims etc as far as I can tell are all standard subaru or from the subaru catalogue and again I think
they look just right. I do want to refit the mudguards but I don't know, do like it without them.

Still to replace the front indicators with orange.
All in all I love the GC8 design and I have to say the Type R is one of the finest car's I had the pleasure
to own.

That does look very nice with the OE wheels on it
Is it still cleaning up easily enough Ben? Just interested as it was back in August when I completed the work on it.

Really easily. Only used the gold class shampoo with warm water and a wool mitt. Dirt simply wipes away. Even the tar looking specks you get.
Re: Wrx Sti Type R V5
Pm me the details with regards a 'top up' treatment

Re: Wrx Sti Type R V5
just had a catch up on this, looking totally mint chap, well done! I agree they're a classic shape and in white too
understand your dilemma of originality. Personally I prefer the other wheels but then you have the choice of a mint original car and swapping between the 2 without any rubbish mods to spoil it when you want it stock. (keeping very quiet here about how i'd hang big turbo's on it blah blah blah..
More importantly, will this be seeing some track action this year???

Bit more work done
Refreshed gearbox fitted along with wishbone ball joints, steering trackrod ends, anti rollbar droplinks, diff cradle bushes, R4.44 diff, slave clutch cylinder and another look at the grinding from the passenger rear.
Gearbox rebuilt by JR Dains

So, massive thank you as usual to AP Tuning and AS Performance, car feels great now, perfectly poised, much improved handling and gear changes that are crisp and clean.
Now my dilemma. It's effectively finished however I've found something else I really really want so maybe time for my Type R to go. As usual I basically finish a car, remove all the faults and make it perfect, then have my eye turned !!
What could I possibly replace it with, well.

or an M151A2
