Time Attack 2015

Post by pablo »

The changes and info are coming fast at the moment. From 2015 Time Attak will have a new name.

MSA - Time Attack Championship

There is also a new scrutineering point. The new Time Attack cool down light for all classes except Clubman.

Nearly spat my tea over the keyboard when I saw the price. I do see one problem with this though as it doesn't say if it can be switched off. Some of the cars do get driven on the road.

MSA championship now.... does that mean race licenses and novice crosses, the whole 9 yards?

licenses are still the same. Still can't see the benefit of coming under the MSA, I can see / feel the added costs but no benefits.
Can someone please explain to me what the benefits are of being associated with the msa?

I presume if you wanted to turn it fully off you'd just have another switch in the circuit to disable it.

It does seem an unnecessary and over-complicated addition, when you could just make it mandatory for cars on slow laps to leave an indicator on (decided in driver's briefing)?

I was looking at the car and thinking where the hell could we mount it. It has to be on a central line of the car. The bumper is plastic and has our slogan across it, which to put it another way I won't be telling Alan to take it off. So it could be mounted where the rear number plate is except you now have to run a rear Time Attack plate.

This will also cause the organisers (in my opinion) a right headache like in 2012. In club class back then there was a 900bhp R35 that should clearly have been in club pro, but because he didn't want to fit a cage they didn't bump him up under the 5% rule. So now if a clubman class car is clearly too quick for that class who's going to tell him to drill hloes in his pride and joy daily driver to fit another light so they can bump him up a class.

You should be able to fit it inside the rear screen- I'm sure it's where Pete has his MSA rain light.

What happens if it fails, though? Exclusion from the results?

Thought about fitting it there but our car is a hatchback so would have to allow for that when tailgate is open. Splicing into 20+yr old ford wiring, something is going to fail.
Also cars now have to be fitted with a cat. Thankfully ours is old enough to be outside this rule.

I suppose I really shouldn't be bothered by this as club 4wd is only our backup option.
