Well another bit fell off the exhaust, one of the silencers this time, fortunatelty i'm getting adept at pulling it off, welding it up and putting it back on, but it probably is time for a new one.
Out of idle interest, where is the line between "Pattern Part" and "Modification" where insurance is concerned? Always seemed like a bit of a grey area to me.

Modified to me means altered from standard specs to achieve a different look or alter performance. Pattern parts are copies of the original within original specs normally.

If it's a grey area it means the insurance company will use it to get out of paying in the event of a claim. Thats what they're written in for.

Fitted a new exhaust today.
APT offered me a great price on a Stainless Milltek catback, but after a bit of research I went for a Mild Steel Sportex. Standard sized piping and as close to the original Renault spec as is available without paying main stealer prices.
Quite impressed with he quality of the welds, the Exhaust came in 4 pieces. mid silencer and straight pipe, y shaped up and over rear beam and two silencers, unfortunately no clamps to hold them together, but £3 at Halfrauds sorted that out.
Damn easy to fit being in separate sections, and actually hugs the car rather better than the Renault item, unfortunately the rear pipes don't sit perfectly in the centre of the bumper cut outs, I'll grab some pics tomorrow when its light.
Sounds a little sportier than the standard one, but not enough to make motorways annoying. All in all for the cheapest available option I'm rather impressed.

Next job, new drive shaft to see if that cures the clonk its developed.
