Recovery Services

Post by pablo »

Thought it was worth a post.
The last time we called the RAC out for the track car almost a year back, the guy told us that. Non of the emergency breakdown services will recover any vehicle that looks like a track car. Inspite of the fact that we were in the town centre and only 3 miles from my house and 50 miles from the nearest track.

They will recover you back home but they will charge you the full rate to do so and for us at that time and distance it would have been about £150.

I ditched the RAC for the AA when they added the line "if the vehicle has been modified in such a way that it cannot be towed and requires a flatbed you will be charged the full price".

Then i ditched the AA for consistently making me phone up to get the same price as new customers. No reward for loyalty.

Now i get Britania through my bank account, but never having called them out I cant comment on how good they are, I suspect as they subcontract most of it, it'll be luck of the draw.

Like most insurances, they're on the make for as much money as possible, I suspect most of us would do better to pay £20 a month into a special savings account and then PAYG, when the worst happens.

This is why I've got friends with flatbeds, free recovery (favour for a favour)! :hurray:

I had the same experience a few years ago now with the mini. Fully caged, seated, liver etc. They refused to load it up so I had to have GreenFlag come out and take it back to the house. IMO these breakdown companies are shit (in my experience) especially when you tell them exactly what's gone wrong but they insist on sending a van out first to check.
