Project Bucketlist
Re: Project Bucketlist
Looks like a good buy, well done
. Don't think i'm quite old enough yet to pull off owning a Jag
Re: Project Bucketlist
Yay the rain stopped long enough to give the car a click wash (not a clean, just washing off the dirt to see whats what.

After the kids christening the last car Nigel my wife has got in on the act, meet "Rupert"
bunch of clowns the lot of them.

The wheels clean up well although one is missing a center cap and one is a little more scabby than this:

Door kick plate missing on the passenger side and a disturbing coloured carpet

The headlining has sagged and there is what looks like egg yolk... I'm not doing a top gear CSI because i dont want to know what it really is, to me its egg yolk

I'm sure I had a PC this colour back in the 80's.

Drivers bolster needs some attention

Shock top, bush has mostly gone:

The business end:

With what looks like some weeping under the cam covers, hopefully that's what the seller was talking about.
The cable to the kickdown seems very loose but it worked ok on the way home, investigation needed.

And the strange square block off the air intake must be some sort of resonance chamber, it doesn't lead anywhere.
Slam panel needs a little love:

Maybe its not a slam panel as the bonnet opens the other way :/
And Jaguar had movable Aero years before the Ferrari 458

But the air filter was new, the engine & transmission oil nice and fresh, coolant and squirters all topped up.

Re: Project Bucketlist
Nice list Maff with lots of achievable jobs to make a big improvement in a short time. I must need to go to Specsavers though because I'm sure that said 'T-Cut the bonnet'
We need a facepalm smiley
You must have something better in the cupboard/shed/workshop than T-Cut? Buy some G3 from Halfrauds if you need to man.

This stuff ?:
http://www.halfords.com/motoring/cleani ... quid-500ml
Also what's best for getting the general grease and under bonnet detritus sorted out?

Re: Project Bucketlist
If you're going to Halfords (Cromer's shop is a joke by the way) then you'll be OK with that Maff (You can get degreaser similar to below from Halfords too)
If you're buying online get some of this from Rob @ ioclean
http://www.ioclean.co.uk/index.php/poli ... tomax.html
In terms of degreasing in general (engine bay or anywhere else) buy some of this
http://www.ioclean.co.uk/index.php/bran ... ss-1l.html
This is strong stuff so you can dilute it down if needs be mate; I use a bottle at 1:10, 1:5 and 1:3
Hope that helps

Re: Project Bucketlist
Cool cheers, will do.
I have some extra jobs now having had a bit more of a play.
Some muppet has tried to repair the wires broken opening and closing the boot with.... scotchlocks
Now where's the facepalm smiley?
Soldering iron time.
Also some sort of aux in for the head unit is needed, I quite like the retro look so I'm going to solder something in.

Re: Project Bucketlist
Bollocks.
Went to jack up the car to take the front wheel off (weird ass wheel nuts). And... the jacking point went up, trouble is the car stayed on the ground. The OSF of the floor pan is to put it mildly... fucked. Under what looks like original and perfect underseal is just rust. That'll teach me to actually look at a car first.
So next job, whip it up on a ramp and see if its as bad as it looks, fairly sure it is.
and
A)Buy another that's solid and swap bits about.
or
B)Part it out on ebay to get my dosh back, should be easy enough, but seems a shame.
Oh well at least I haven't bought any tax/insurance/parts and wont be out of pocket.
