Wrx Sti Type R V5
Re: Wrx Sti Type R V5
Only joshing chief - as Frayz says, purely to stop the underseal getting on the body work as it's being applied.
Re: Wrx Sti Type R V5
I like your first reply and the idea of never having to clean the car again
The car is looking minty clean and a testermount to your attention to detail.

Good work though and can't wait to see it after the work.
As I have said time and time again......dont refurb the wheels !! Gold or Bronze wheels look best !!!!

Re: Wrx Sti Type R V5
Ben, you really need to buy a new camera or phone mate, those photos are pony
As Frayz said, I always mask the car's bodywork up to protect from any overspray. I've adapted techniques from paint spraying experience and masked up all components and potential blow through gaps etc to make sure that the tidy-up process and snagging are as simple as possible (do it right & do it once
)
I'll get some photos up in due course, but after 9 hours today the underside and arches were properly cleaned, prepared for painting and then given four coats of 3M protection. The alloys were stripped back to bare paint after years of brake dust, tar and wheel weights were removed and then sealed for protection and ease of future maintenance. Lastly, the exhaust silencer was removed and hand polished & sealed.
This may not sound like a lot but the preparation of the underside and arches is not something that I am prepared to rush & in this area, as in many others in life, preparation is everything

Re: Wrx Sti Type R V5
Rob, oh I am ....
The end of the 5 week journey has arrived - my outwardly clean Type R has completed her transformation to show winner all thank you to H-Tech Styling and Autogenie, plus
other lovely helpful people. I would like to thank my mum, my dad ... hang on, wrong speech ... seriously thank you to Stuart for spending the last two days solid undersealing,
polishing, de-ironing (honestly) ... absolute master at his art, thank you to Chris for saving my machine and allowing her to live for another 15 years
So this is how she looks today after the final work was completed.

Ignore the less than red inlet manifold and rusty expansion bottle - not for much longer

Simply stunning mate, and rightly so you should be well proud!
Although should have got the gaylord gold wheels painted while you were at it.
