Impreza Forums

Post by maff »

I've been too going without some Japanese Turbo power, and a Bug eyed Impreza WRX has been making me have thoughts...

So I've been looking around some forums and what the hell? With Evos you know you go to Lancer Register, with the 200 its the SXOC but with the Impreza there seems to be about 20 forums most of which are dead.

So what's the deal? Where's the info at and where are there for sale and technical sections worth reading?

Cheers

Maff

There usually by the model .. i.e www.type-ra.com or 22b etc ..

I use bbs.scoobynet.com, www.type-ra.com and www.scoobycity.co.uk .. scooby city being the local club.

So you decided to purchase then?, if you do make sure it's an STI WRX - something like this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMPREZ ... 4869d6f5d4

Thats always been one of the things that in my opinion dilutes the brand. What the hell are you buying when you buy a scooby. WRX, STI, STI WRK etc etc. Theres just too many variants.

But why only Jap turbos? I've had 2 mitsi turbos, an MG turbo and 2 Ford turbos and I can pick faults with them all.

There is a lot hence the quest for a decent forum I can read up on all my options on, do a bit of research.

Best experience so far I guess, always been a RWD drive man, MG, Mk2 Escourt, 200sx. FWD with the clio didnt really do it for me, although I like the MPG and grief free motoring, but now with 3 of us sharing a lift to work, 4 doors and is more important than MPG. The nissan was most fun, but I got fed up with the rot.

Never had a 4WD or a Subaru before, had an offer on a cheap GTO but dosn't really appeal or meet the 4 door criteria and an Impreza offers better value for money than an Evo. Although I've always thought the 7 was the nicest looking one, and had a bit of a hankering, but unless Gary knows of a cheap one tuckeoed away somewhere, its Subaru time.

And Bugeye/Blobeye makes sense, get in mostly before the rot sets in and before the £500 road tax.

For reference purposes you could have a look at sidc and scoobynet for UK stuff and NASIOC for stuff the other side of the pond (forum ego's aside all three have tonnes of info and ideas)

Good luck Maffster

Scoobynet and South east Scoobies were the forums I used. Just a suggestion and if your budget allows buy a jdm spec one if you can. My JDM Bugeye was great.

What is it you want to work out Maff? if it's focussed on which model then it really would make more sense to track down a jdm sti model ... remember with the blobeye they are all called WRX - the classics were not.
