E46 M3 track toy

Post by Gedge »

So here we go then.

Couple of pics will say more than words and I'm on my phone and hate writing on this thing.

Came with some cobras which I'll use for a bit and probably move to some lighter fixed buckets.

Started stripping :) got about 100kg out so far. Lots more to go, hope to get it down to 1400kg

Will certainly look better with the tinsel removed ;)

Looks like a decent base car Chris and weight removal can't do any harm at all. Like the ACS exhaust tailpipes............I forgot about the design until these pictures.

Thanks Stuart. It's only got 57k on the clock but I got it for a steal due to people being put off by the mods which are easily undone.

Also the rear subframe has been resin injected by bmw and certified and strengthened by mprove

So more weight saving today!

The stock battery is a joke at 21kg. Its the biggest battery I've ever seen in a car. Will be replacing with a 12kg item. Also looking at FRP door cards as the stock doors are ludicrously heavy and removing the stock stereo for something lighter. Then possibly look at FRP or carbon bonnet and tailgate.

Ill be keeping A/C and a basic stereo as id like to use the car on the road, but everything else is coming out. Will weigh it all when I get a chance.

I thought the bonnet was Ali? Can't be much saving there. Saw the car on cutters, has a nice spec I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Standard m3 bonnet 15.5kg grp/cf 6.3kg approx depending on brand and process. Many grp/ glossy cf ones will add weight. Depends on what and where you read info though.

I guess you've seen http://www.geoffsteel.co.uk/shop/bmw-e4 ... uble-skin/

Makes great m3 track/ race products
