Planes declares EMERGENCY

Post by pablo »

Been following this on the news for past 20 mins. A Boeing 737 declared an emergency and had turned back to East Midlands Airport. Latest news is that it has now landed safely after being diverted to Manchester Airport.
Thank goodness for that.

It seems like the landing gear was fine but a sensor that tells the pilot it's either locked up or down had failed. So they weren't sure if the landing gear was faulty as it still went up and came back down.

Not a choice you would want to have to make. Do you risk landing on the landing gear and possibly have a wheel collapse and therefore crash. Or do you go for a controlled belly landing.
