'98 MX-5 NB
Re: '98 MX-5 NB
No on that silly wing!
Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Agree with Ben, no on the spoiler from me.
VFR looks good, I seriously considered buying one of those when I was 20. Went and looked at one at Seastar Superbikes and thought they were pretty good as it seemed cheap enough to start without the big jump in insurance for a 600. In the end I bought a car but still keep saying I will get a bike one day. Maybe when the midlife crisis arrives

Re: '98 MX-5 NB
I'm going to disagree, I rather like the spoiler, but maybe a squarer ducktail look:

Re: '98 MX-5 NB
ok, colour coded does look nice - plus those are tasty wheels

Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Slack reply, been ill all week so didn't get to smooth over the bumpers or finish the mirrors.
I'll eventually buy the spoiler and get it smoothed & colour coded otherwise it'll stick out like a sore thumb! Also I've discovered that the soft top leaks a lot so I've got to fork out money for that now
New wheels are a must have soon as well, I'm thinking of picking up a set of these Konig Rewinds:

The second VFR400 arrived Sunday, sounds good but could do with the engine being rebuilt.

Bought a low profile jack and immediately ran into problems; it's not low profile enough (DOH!) Got the front end off, installed the tow strap, grill and fixed the plate.

Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Someone was selling a ducktail rear spoiler for £100 posted, brand new, unpainted. Picture below is of the guy placing it on to see what it looks like when on.

Re: '98 MX-5 NB
So the guy didn't want to post it in the end because of how fragile it is, so I drove to Stoke and back to get it. Going to test fit it tomorrow and then spray it silver.

Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Now thats a road trip it's about a hour north of me.

It was a good trip, goodpablo wrote:Now thats a road trip it's about a hour north of me.

Finally stopped being lazy and finished the mirrors, it looks pretty good if I say so myself as this was my first attempt.

Also fitted the Japanese spec rear light cluster and test fitted the duck-tail spoiler.

Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Postman arrived yesterday with something I've been waiting for 4 weeks. Very happy with it. Chap called Luke with his own start up company called Eunos Racing Developments provided his own ERD wooden steering wheel and ERD slimline quick release. Quality is brilliant, can't wait to fit it later.

Now for the bad news, unfortunately the top end of the engine makes a knocking noise when revving between 3-4,000 and also at 6,000. If you rev it with something over the exhaust you also get oil spatter so it's now spitting out/eating up the new oil I put in today. I have a feeling it might be the time and chain guides that are on their way out or I need a top end rebuild. Any ideas what this could be?
