Turbo pack is off. Fannymold looks good, no cracks.

2ndary turbo seems to be the culprit of the oil leak. Oil around the blades and ports.

That's about another 2 hours to get the pack off so 5 in total now. Not bad going considering it took me 3 days last time!

Got the turbo pack all torqued up, acuators on and downpipe on. Oil lines were a bitch to line up as usual. Also the downpipe needed some persuading! That's all the hard stuff out of the way!

That's another 2 hours ish.

8.5hrs so far

Car passed the mot today with just one advisory. Not bad for a 21 year old car. Car is running lovely. I forgot how fun it was to drive and how damn fast it is. The new profec boost controller has made it feel almost n/a. You have to properly concentrate to keep it straight. I missed it so much. Going out tomorrow to do a bit more tuning with the profec and to give it a hiding!

First track run of the year brought up mixed results.

Good points: The car devastated the field. There was nothing crazy there today, but lots of track ready hatch backs, lotuses, 2 seaters etc. Myself and a mate in an Exige were passing everything and very well matched on the corners but I had to coast on the straights for him to keep with me.

The car has great stability and grip, even on kumho Ecsta road tyres. Understeer is non existent (new 245 fronts) and the rear likes to loosen and follow round nicely aiding the turn in. The first turbo slingshots the car out of the apex for impressive corner exit speed.

Bad points: The car still has an oil leak around the primary turbo area. :'( Even after replacing the turbo pack for a good one and using new gaskets. I'm at a total loss what it could be to be honest, but luckily it wasnt bad enough to stop play.

Also I developed a gasket blow from what I think is the downpipe to turbo pack gasket. It was making a real racket on the way home.

All in all, great day but very disappointing that I'm going to have to strip it all down again and find the leak :-(

I was at my wits end with it yesterday and considering throwing the towel in, but as always ive slept on it and decided to man up and strip it down again and have another go. I have had some amazing help from members of my RX7 forum and also some local mates who have helped me see the light! The car is so enjoyable to drive on track that its hard to give up.
