Nice to haver all the shiny bits arriving.
Hows the paintwork refresh gone?

Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Installed the brace today along with copper anti-seize. Had to modify the intake pipe as it wouldn't fit round the brace mount. Engine bay is filthy so going to try and clean it up tomorrow, if not I'll make a pit-stop at Auto-Genie and get the whole car done once sprayed.

Haven't started yet, may tackle it tomorrow on the mirrors and see how it goes. Gonna pop down to see Chris at H-Tech Styling at some point to get a quote on eliminating the rust on both rear arches and roll them.maff wrote:Nice to haver all the shiny bits arriving.

Good job fitting the strut brace, glad to see you're making good use of the bank holiday. Your right the engine bay does need a bit of a clean but better to be covered in dirt than oil.
Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Sunday and tonight I thought I may as well get my arse in gear and do these bloody mirrors as they looked horrible! So, I'll let the images do the talking. Not bad for my first attempt, just a couple tiny bits to tidy up (base of nearside mirror, mainly) and then on to the silver coat
Prep work

Primer coat #1

Rest of the images are after 3 coats of primer have been applied

How she sits right now

Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Nice job, i'd be tempted to spray them black but either way i think they're going to look good when you finish.
Re: '98 MX-5 NB
I'd spray them black but already spent the money on silver. My plan is to get the car wrapped in dark blue!pablo wrote:Nice job, i'd be tempted to spray them black but either way i think they're going to look good when you finish.
Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Great progress chap.
Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Final 2 pieces arrived for the front end, number plate bracket and tow hook bracket. Also popped to Halfrauds and bought a low profile jack and axle stands. Today I'm hoping to get lots done:
*Remove front bumper, clean it up, fill it, fit grill, fit tow hook, fix wonky front number plate
*Finish spraying the mirrors
*Clean under the arches, well the whole car really
*Fit Japanese rear lights
*Sand the rear bumper and primer if there's enough time in the day
Elderly woman backed up into my car the other night in a car park, she almost drove off! Only damage was paint crack which I wasn't too bothered about as I'm doing the whole damn thing anyway.

Also thinking of getting a Togue Run rear wing, what you guys think?

Finally, mothers boyfriend bought a bike! Honda VFR400. This is actually 1 of 2, second one arrives later today. Will start a new thread later with both bikes, the plans and progress pics etc.

Re: '98 MX-5 NB
Sounds like you have a busy day planned. Like that rear spoiler and the bikes, brings back memories
