Oh i see. Well like you say its "Bloody french!" So you shouldn`t have any rot to worry about or corroded brake pipes - Unless Nigel has been dipping in that coastal water?

Yup no brake pipes. Although some lessons learnt:
1)Dont buy cheap eBay ball joints, you'll end up replacing them every year.
2)The New MOT rules about HIDs having to have squirters working at MOT are now in full effect
3)Even buying Renault parts dosn't always cope with Norfolk roads
And how the hell have I gone through the inside sidewall? Must have hit something in the road.

Well I've had a look round and I have indeed managed to cut the NSF tyre down to the canvas, god knows how, but I already have a spare tyre for that.
All the pipework was missing for the headlamp washers, so I've plumbed all that back in, just missing one little bit.
The little white bit on the end of the squirter..... and an eBay 2nd hand squirter is £25 
I can see why they were removed though, they drip constantly, guess its a side effect of them being lower than the washer bottle but a 1 way valve aught to sort that out. Just need to find an alternative to the ebay monkeys.
Ball joins (not ebay cheese ones) on order as is a new shock.

Bugger.
Horrible creaking from OSF suspension when moving off and braking to a halt. Had it up in the air, look round lower ball joint looks good (should hope so after only 2 months), not steering arm, no play anywhere except a bit in the top mount, hard to tell quite, so new top mount.... Just fitted it, old baring horribly grindy, so put it all back together, drop it down, torque up the top and ... exactly the bloody same. So much for an easy fix.
Any thoughts anyone?
Steering angle sensor keeps lighting up after about 10 miles, so i'm thinking its something to do with the front geometry, i did the rack bushes 4 years ago, but it might be them again.

I can't help, but that model does seem to eat consumables!

Maff do you get a creaking noise travelling up the steering column when you gently rock the steering wheel when stationary? If so it will be the rack needs greasing. The nylon knuckles inside the rack have dried out. Remove the little cable ties and peel back the inner gaitors and apply grease.
The top mounts can be totally and utterly fooked but rarely make a noise as they are taper mounts. I did have one last week that was just a broken o/s front spring that had broken a complete coil rather than the normal last inch and that made a lovely "donk" noise when the steering was turned.
The final check would be wishbone bushes? They again dont normally make a noise but cause the steering wheel to pitch and car to wander when braking or pull when accelerating. Simple to check with a screwdriver between subframe and wishbones. Any play then they want changing. I have done so many of these over the years. When they get bad (other than driving like a pig and cutting out tyres) They nearly always kill the trackrod ends as well.

All 'sound' advise (hehe get it? i kill me, i really do) I'll put it back up in the air tomorrow and have a push and pull at the wishbone bushes, and check the steering as you suggest!
I was thinking it might be ARB bushes too, so ill wd40 the buggers and see if they go quiet for a while.

Well I'm still stumped.
No play in the wish bones.
No creaking in the steering, although there is a clonk as it goes past the centre point.
WDing the ARB bushes made no difference.
Its quieter than it was but its still doing it.
Confused. Up on a proper ramp next i guess then i can have a proper push and pull at things.
