Re: My SWB TT Z32...
Just read through about 5 pages of updates bud, of which I didn't get any notifications...?
So glad you're cracking on with the Zed, is this instead of the Valentine's gift tracker? You're making awesome progress and apart from a few bits it seems like you have everything you need, you just need to hang it on the car which is great - although as you've spent the majority of the years I've known you buying up bits that's no great surprise!
Got quite nostalgic for mine looking at all the pics.
On the turbo front have you made any decisions yet? Or did I miss that? From memory you have my flowed mani's and elbows? CAn't you find some used 2530's to just bolt on? or 40's praps, or the equivalent Garret jobs, -5s or -10s? They aren't huge horsepower turbans but gave great spool on my zed (better than the gtr with the torque of the big v6) and good power, mine made 580bhp and 600 odd torques. Poss not enough if you want ultimate drag but great for a mix of that and track work. I'm really waffling on this but I could get you a decent quote on new garrets if you were feeling brave - sods have still got the HKS 2540s off the gtr which I was originally going to rebuild although he denies it haha but can get good prices those tubs.
Be great to see the zeds turning it's massive new wheels this year chief!

Re: My SWB TT Z32...
I've still got those mani's that I had off you, though at the moment I've fitted the AMS ones
I have considered 2530's as a straight bolt on option but Marty (Gonzo12c) is selfish, selfish, selfish, selfish, selfish, selfish, selfish and wants to keep them for himself despite already having a spare pair of Speciality Z turbos the size of Jupiter!!
See what I mean.......Selfish
I should have bought them myself when the original owner had them up on ebay initially, I think they were at around £250 for the pair then...
I reckon it'll cost a good couple of hundred quid to get these 675's sorted and that's assuming I don't run into any snags
Ref the Valentine's gift from my wife, that has been spent on curtains, mirrors, lamp shades and a plethora of other shiz' that I really really wanted.....
Tell me more about these turbos that you've got tucked away chief

Re: My SWB TT Z32...
Ha everyone missed them at £250 and I only didn't buy them at that price as he wouldn't let me pop over to Wales to check the bearings and pick them up as he didn't want me looking in his garage haha. I think they went to auction in the end and I won for about 220jap.slapper wrote: I have considered 2530's as a straight bolt on option but Marty (Gonzo12c) is selfish, selfish, selfish, selfish, selfish, selfish, selfish and wants to keep them for himself despite already having a spare pair of Speciality Z turbos the size of Jupiter!!

How about 88 pints and a fishing rod?

Re: My SWB TT Z32...
What a bloody day!!!
A few days ago I received a call from a mate advising that there was about to be a purge on abandoned cars, campers and caravans at my old place of work. I've had two caravans parked up there for several years now and figured that this was as good a time as any to move them (especially as I hadn't worked there for coming up two and a half years and didn't really fancy my caravans, my kit and bike getting scrapped)
So today I jumped in the Land Rover and ventured down to Hereford with a list of tasks. First on the list was to get the wheels off both caravans as the tyres were completely shagged on both, and take them down town to get some brand new ones fitted. This was easier said than done but I'd pre-empted and packed a large can of WD40, a big persuader and wrecking bar for getting the nuts off. Then it was off down town...
An hour and £150 later (even cheap caravan tyres aren't that cheap these days apparently) I headed back to re-fit the wheels and then shift caravan number one a few miles up the road to a mates salvage yard, where the estate owner had kindly agreed to let me park the caravan up for a couple of weeks.
Then it was time to head back to hook up caravan number two and take it up to the mountain. Sods law it started to blow a hooly' and I had to resort to driving at 45mph in order to stop the bloody thing from swaying side to side.....
An hour or so later I arrived home in one piece, in good time and with minimal f**king about which I was quite chuffed about as I thought it was going to be a complete nightmare.
I then shifted my wife's car out of the way, un-hooked the caravan from the Land Rover and parked it (the Land Rover) next to the zed. The caravan was easy enough to shift despite being on my own, as it probably doesn't weigh more than 750kg.....then things started to go down hill....literally!!!!
All I'll say is that it could have been a hell of a lot worse, but long story short I've learnt several things today:
- First and foremost handbrakes on 20 year old caravans are not the best
- Second is that gravity and the laws of physics are a complete cnut!!!
and third, if you don't want to trash your gate and fence with a runaway caravan, make sure that you park a Land Rover in between the two....
Luckily it hit the Landy' on the corner and only smashed the passenger side corner light cluster, if I had parked as I normally do (i.e. not hastily park at an angle) then the caravan would have 'T' boned it and my day would have been a lot worse.
On a positive note, whilst waiting for the tyres to be fitted I passed the time by doing a bit of window shopping for a new rifle (though apparently .22 is more suitable for whacking rats and foxes and .338 and .50 are a tad overkill....I didn't think so but maybe they do have a point)
As it turns out ebay has come to the rescue with a tidy light cluster at only £65 delivered, now back to building this Jap piece of crap

Re: My SWB TT Z32...
I was reading that and thinking how lucky you were at how smoothly things were going, then I half expected you to say that on your return to fit the wheels the caravans were gone.
Pez, mate you live on a mountain I wouldn't trust any any handbrake.
Just glad the damage was minor.
