Yet again i'm after some advice.
We run a MLS head gasket, head and block all skimmed and refaced and allo is well on that front.
We will need to open the engine sometime soon to finish our planned build, ie new cam, valve springs and head work. So what i need to know is when we fit a new MLS head gasket will we need to have the head and block refaced again?
MLS Head Gaskets
Cheers Gary.
We were going to fit another cam before Ford Fair but Alan said no, due the fact that the engine is working he didn't want to open it. We will only open it once we can get everything done at the same time, just didn't want to open it and then find we needed to spend more before we could put it together again.

You usually pressurise the cylinder to hold the valve up and then use a special tool to compress the spring so you can remove the collets. Sure Gary will expand if necessary.pablo wrote:I have now found out that it is possible, (although a right pain in the arse) to change the valve springs WITHOUT removing the head. I know that Reyland has done this.
So my question is has anyone had this done to thier car?
We really, really don't want to open up the engine......

Re: MLS Head Gaskets
If whilst changing the valve springs without removing the head you were to drop a collet. Where would it end up? Would it just fall through into the sump or could you be faced with an engine strip down?
We have to do change them in the next month or two or put the car away. The implications of taking the head off scares the shit out of me
