Well, it's been a while but I'm now back from holiday and thoughts are turning to getting the GTR out of it's bag. So I've put together a bit of a job list:

Oil Change & Service
Extra Fire Extinguisher pipe and Nozzle for cabin
Fit the New 4wd controller and G sensor
Replace stickers after respray
Data Logger & Dash
Syvecs Fuel Sensor to run Methanol
Spray the splitter (rattle can job I reckon)
Door Cards (not a priority but I'd like this done this year
Possibly put a cartek battery cut kit on the car
Book Some Trackdays!!!!

So, quite a bit to do but all exciting stuff. Really looking forward to getting the car out and using it again :driving:

I've also been toying with the idea of some new wheels but I might start another thread on that.

Hello mate how's things????

I'm back in UK May and have penciled in Snet on 15th May if you fancy it?

I have spoken to Ryan and fingers crossed he will have time to fit a Syvecs to the Porker.

Let me know your TD plans for May and i'll see if i can come and have a play. :driving:

Hello mate, welcome back.

Good news on Ryan, sure he'll see you right - word of advice, his other half is due to have a baby in about 6 weeks so try and get yours sorted asap as sure he'll have other things on his mind for a while...

Definitely be good to book up some TDs fella, last year at Snett was a great day. Unfortunately 15th May is about the only one I think I can't do as am likely to be away with work that week.

I'll PM you

Nice box turned up yesterday full of shiny Race Technology bits which made me happy.

I went for the DL1 Club Data logger and Dash4 pro OLED display. These will connect to the Syvecs so I can bin all my guauges and use the dash for monitoring the engine aswell as lap times. I also went for the GoPro connection as it's supposed to be easy to overlay the logs to the video (this remains to be seen as those who know me will be aware that my attention span with such technology is limited and as such I tend not to find this kind of thing easy unless it just happens).

Big thanks to Malc (maxx) the driver trainer who got me a great deal, and also to race technology who offered it. Very impressed with them so far.

So that's being fitted, along with the Skylab and other bits listed above, apart from the fuel flex sensor as I've discovered that i need some additional work done which i don't want to stop me from getting on track asap. Namely some ally welding on the tank, along with replacement of all fuel fittings to deal with the methanol.

Very excited about getting the car on track again and been discussing another day with Malc at Silverstone this time. Shooting for an April date.

I do however have a bit of a dilema. Daz and I were looking at the Abflug splitter I put on before the car was put away for winter and it's not particularly secure. This is mainly due to the original splitter itself not being very secure as most of the bacl of it, and the bumper has all been cut away to fit oil coolers and varios other bits, and there's nowhere else underneath than the stock bolt holes that came in the splitter to further secure it.

Daz reckons I should put some support bars on it. I agree from the perspective of it not ripping off on the first lap. But I disagree from a looks perspective, will it look shit?

I've not seen any pics of abflug splitters with supports, so maybe they don't create enough downforce to rip themselves off???

Thoughts guys?

Could Bond it on with tiger seal as well as the fixings you do already use
Or is it bonded already ?

Can't really bond it as it goes back under the engine so have to whip it off to access stuff

Is there anyway that you can fabricate a couple of lightweight supports from the chassis and use dzus fasteners? Good combo for security and quick access.

I see
How about having the whole bumper skin on quick release fastenings
Peal the whole front off race car stylee when needed.
Or bond angled supports on inner side of bumper for more fixings
Or as dan said from the chassis to pick up splitter

Cheers guys. I had a look at the splitter again today on the ramps and put a few more screws in on the undertray area. Although some of these only went into the original undertray it seems to have done the job. I gave it a good heave all round and it actually seems a lot more solid. I think I'll give it a go and see if stays put.

Daz serviced the car - oil and plugs etc - and reckoned the oil was really shitty so I think this year I'm going to change it more often. It's odd as the oil temps are well under control now but I suppose like everything else on the car it does take a bit of abuse.

He's also started fitting the Data logger and Skylab. Making up a new a centre panel where the guauges were mounted previously, to mount the logger and skylab controller. I was undecided on where to mount the GPS aerial as didn't want the cable out of the door and taped to the roof. My original thoughts were to run it out of the grommet I have in the rear window where the wiper used to mount and then put the aerial on the bootlid. But Race Tech reckon it's best to have it on the roof so going to run it up the side of the a pillar by the windscreen now and mount it front left of roof. hoping it doesn't look gash.

Other jobs are the external button for the fire extinguisher and also a nozzle inside the cockpit, along with a few bits of random fixing.

Plan is to do the snett day Monday 31st as a first outing, then Silverstone in April for another days training with malc.

Will update with pics of the new bits soon
