School zone speed limit

I live in an area filled with speed cameras and schools.
A few years back the council in it's wisdom (dumb f***s), put in harsh speed bumps and a 20 mph limit by a local school. Nothing wrong with that I hear you say. Execpt within 6 months the school was closed, knocked down and the site cleared.

So, today i'm driving home pass another school with no restricted speed. I glansed at my speedo and was doing 30mph in a 30 but thought to myself No 20mph in a school zone at finish time, so slowed down to 20. Kids coming out of school heavy traffic coming towards me. Then from behind a 4x4, other side of the road, a girl decided to run out infront of me. Tyres momentarily locked as abs cut in for a split second and the girl put her hand on my bonnet.

Luckily no damage to my car but I don't think she'll do that again in a hurry.

School zones = 20mph.

I was dropping my daughters off at their swimming lessons yesterday and encountered a similar scenario, though in this instance it was a case of the school bus dropping the high school kids off at the side of the road (on a bend just 20yds after a busy road junction isn't the best place to put a bus stop in my opinion but hey ho).

Anyway there shortly followed an exodus of teenagers who having just got off the bus decided to walk en mass behind it and play leap frog through the traffic....there was one straggler that stopped to fiddle with his iPod earphones and then proceeded to sprint after his friends straight into oncoming traffic. All that stopped him from ending up all over the bonnet and through the windscreen of the oncoming car was a combination speed limit, driver reactions and the cars ABS!

It was so close it was unreal, but somehow the 30 or so youths decided that it was hilarious and all started creasing up at the other lads near miss??? Fucking hilarious I think not...
