Or how about a V6 kit in the future. Only a stone heavier but packs a punch and sounds the tits.* As you say though, it makes the car mine and I'm becoming more and more pleased with it as I go on!

*Of course this is fantasy land stuff until I have another job.

Onwards to another update.

This came through the letterbox today. A 6M1 Goodwood (Mica) green J-spec rear bumper. In pretty worthy condition although noted that there are a couple of scuffed areas and the paintwork is pretty dull. I've asked Stu to delay our appointment so I can get Steve back round again to sort out the marks on the rear bumper as well as the flatness and dodgy paint on the nosecone. Then the Genie himself can work his magic on the entire car.




So with bumper and plate armed and at the ready I then started to strip the arse end out.




The rear lights, panel, boot carpet, side trim, arch bolts, retention strips etc had to be removed to get this off. In my rush to get this all back together in one driveable piece I forgot to take photos without the bumper on. The metal is very solid and there's a whopping great nylon impact bar underneath!



Bumper on and had literally finished the last bolt before taking this.

For now I've stored the old bumper to the roof until I get round to putting it up on ebay.

Yes Stu, that is a Wagner steamer you spy. It is starting to take shape Russ, even with it not being 100% on looks so far it's certainly turning heads everyday and more so now I have the import stuff on it.

Steve will be popping by tomorrow (also quoting another job in Thetford) to assess the areas properly rather than via photos. So I'll have a quote and date in hand.

Update! Well as per my head gasket thread the car now seems to be fine! Been for a really long drive with varying driving styles and not a single issue has arisen! So maybe an airlock or sludge worked its way round and caused a temporary block somewhere? Don't know, but I'll be going to APT this Saturday morning to have a sniff test just to make double sure that everything is okay.

Now, I was caught off guard today - I totally forgot that Steve was coming round today to sort the front and rear bumper out! So I removed the plates and Steve set to work.



The whole nosecone was addressed, painted and lacquered.



And buffed to a great shine.




The rear bumper surround has now been sorted, no more scuffs!



After about a week I'll mount the badge back on and give the car another hose down. The joys of owning a dark colour.

How does he pain laquer and buff to a great shine in a day?
When I paint things they take more than a few hours to dry
I need to know the secret

Steve uses some fancy paint and Merc lacquer which is baked off with an infra red lamp. The polishing stuff he uses is 3M Fast cut plus. Gives a really good shine!

Well today after I gave the car a quick clean I decided to just add the Engerish badge to the nosecone as it was looking silly without anything on there.
