Not changing stuff sooner has just bit my on the arse as the 40 year old motor has started blowing out oil , not massive amounts but it started to spray about the engine bay and dripping from the sump and gearbox . I think Corum in 2nd was to much for it , o well i will just have to buy a new motor and as they say every cloud has a silver lining .

That's a real shame Pete, I feel your pain (have been there once or perhaps even twice (and repeat) myself. But the silver lining attitude is definitely the right one to take.
I'd actually jumped on your thread to see if you knew which of the Toyota sprints you were doing as i'm up for doing it with you. Do you think you'll still be doing it?

Re: Pete's Camaro
I don't think i will be able to do any of the TSS because iam going to change the engine and that will need running in , at a guess i would say 3 months before its running again . I have a new engine block coming next week and then i need to order a new crank , rod's and piston assembly , and if thats not enough iam changing to diff ratio rerouting the exhaust and rewiring the engine bay . I have some crazy idea that this will be done in 3months and will have 50% more grunt and 10% less gear , should be fun .Monster wrote:

I haven't been able to pin point were the oil leak came from but the engine is now being removed and will be replaced by something bigger , there was the odd drip of oil before but now there's to many for the 307 to stay in the engine bay .

I have removed some body work to make getting the block out easier and also because iam removing the heater box as it doesn't work .I will need to weld a plate to the bulkhead to cover the hole left by the heater box

Another thing that's been bugging me is that one of the exhaust manifolds is 25mm lower to the ground than the other , so that's getting cut and rewelded as well . That means i can lower the front a bit more without scraping the bottom out of the exhaust .
You can see in the picture that the far side manifold hangs lower than the near one

This has totally screwed my new years resolution of only doing work on the car that i can finish in a weekend , but the 2.0 version should be good . Pete
Re: Pete's Camaro
Sorry to hear Pete but 50% more grunt will be interesting

The labour of love for this old girl is still pushing its luck, good thing it has an owner that likes looking after it.
Seriously though Pete, hope you have better luck with the new lump!

Re: Pete's Camaro
look forward to further updates
and to see it out and running again

Re: Pete's Camaro
That is a shame Pete. But 50% more power in one already very cool car has got to be worth the effort.
