I spotted that a few minutes ago. After missing out on that Celica I'm even eyeing up track prepped 205's and XR2's now
[img] Q. If you were stranded on a desert island, who would you rather be stranded with....Ray Mears or Bear Grylls?
A. No question....Ray Mears....you could make a shit load more stew out of that tubby little fecker [/img]

Absolutely mate, in fact in TA 2013 he was predominantly quicker than (or snapping at the heals of) a pair of reportedly 700bhp twin turbo 300zx'pablo wrote:I don't think people realise just how quick that thing actually is.

I'm still reeling over losing out on that GT this afternoon, so in an attempt to cheer myself up I've been doing as you have been doing mate and hit ebay again
Out of principal I have to stay within my 'Valentines present' budget and whatever I decide upon has to be a fully functional/running 'track shitter' with minimum of a roll cage fitted (preferably welded but bolted would suffice). The zed build will continue concurrently (incidentally the new wheels should arrive next week so I can get the slicks fitted and start working on fitting the over fenders properly)
so sticking with the same idea of cheap ready built track car the few that seem to tick the right boxes are predominantly Pugs and Saxo's of all things...
This 205 GTi with GTi-6 conversion looks promising (as it stands I'd expect this to weigh somewhere around the 800kg'ish mark with the GTi-6 lump producing around 160-170 bhp) though it does look a bit scratty and I'd want to ensure that it wasn't suffering from any hidden tin worm issues

this one looks to be a tidy example though running a fairly standard 1.9 GTi lump, that being said it should still be putting out around 115-120 bhp I would have thought?

this one looks interesting but maybe a bit too 'home built', still could be quite a bit of nippy track kit for a relatively small amount of money

Incidentally the Celica GT that I bid on was built by Stoner Racing for a young Indian driver named Alok Iyengar, he used the Celica to compete in the GT200 class of the Nippon Challenge from 2010 onwards by all accounts.
I'd done quite a bit of internet trawling to find out as much as possible on the car itself and I suspect it cost him around the
