I,d looked at DC2,s before i got the bugeye but had to try an sti after my wrx wagon. Just before xmas i was looking through an old copy of Japenese Performance and there was a buying and tuning guide on the DC2. The more i read the more i liked and after working out the running cost decided to start looking for one. Now there are plenty for sale but finding one without rust or having been abused by some chav was getting difficult. Over xmas i emailed loads of classified ads on pistonheads and one stood out from the rest. The owner is in the US army and only used the car when on leave, otherwise it was put into storage. He was on holiday in florida at the time so numerous emails were exchanged until a date for viewing was arranged at the start of January. A trip to norfolk followed and i met one of the biggest honda fans around. His wife owns a DC5 which she trackdays at snetterton on a regular basis as they live around 2 miles away from the circuit. He is currently building a EK9 Civic type r with a K20 engine swap.
The DC2 was really clean, good solid rear arches, nice paintwork, good history and in general good condition. The seats were in amazing condition, no sagging bolsters or nasty signs of wear. The test drive was great, no rattles or bangs from anywhere and the car felt really tight. A deal was done and i drove it home with a new mugen front lip as part of the deal. Theres a few jobs to be done but nothing major, the drivers mirror folds back on its own when driving, the alloys need a refurb, radio doesn,t work and the rocker cover need a tidy up.
