Bad habit I guess, I've done loads like this and got away with it (Lesson learnt I guess) So with a car that has a boot mounted battery would you ground it from where the earthing point is in the boot?

I belive that most cars equipped with boot mounted batteries have connections under the bonnet ready for jump starting. I know my audi does and ive seen others that have too.
I too used to jump start cars directly many moons ago. Back then the cars had bugger all or a fraction of the electronics in them than anything that is rolling off the production line now.
