Just seen this, what did you decide on in the end fella? or haven't you? Land Cruiser VX will have plenty of grunt, and locky diffs, and lots of space (dunno if 7 seats though).
Trailer wise I reckon you'll struggle to get anything with little enough overhang not to ground if the bend is bad, maybe weld a plate on and just drag it across.
I'm guessing a beaver tail lorry is no good as won't climb your hill on wet leaves and the like?

If anything the Land Cruiser is the more suitable option (with 7 seats), though I might just use the Disco 3 for the immediate future as my wife is talking about having the father in-law's Polo as a cheap runabout for when she's back on her feet after recovering from the 'C' section (I think driving the Disco and/or a Land Cruiser would probably be a bit too much) so a little Polo might serve her well.
It's only a few years old with 30k on the clock and is a TDI so cheap to run and not much to go wrong with it
We've just sold our VW MPV and still have an '06 Mitsubishi Grandis MPV (with a new engine fitted) which is stored at a mates yard, so that needs to be sold first
What we're trying to avoid is having the outside of our house looking like a salvage yard. As the zed is up on stands and the van is parked up at the top it could very easily start heading that way.
As Much as it would be ideal for ease of transporting the zed a beavertail just wouldn't work up here, the loader that I brought the zed up on struggled to get traction in the dry so the slightest bit of rain fall and it'd be stranded
I've a good mind to throw a cover over the zed for now and tackle it when the wind and rain dry down. I've had my eye on a new toy for a few months now which is basically a turn key option for some instant track time fun, but I'd have to free up some $ from somewhere
Kitchen, Skylights, baby's bedroom and drainage are first on the list though...

Besides, more interested to hear about this 'turn key' track motor....spill please. I'm especially keen to know as I wasn't aware there was such a thing...

Not a crate V8 sadly, in fact quite the opposite in fact
A friend of ours has been into Radicals for a while now (I think he's on his 4th?) and the horror stories about engine rebuilds every 40 hours and associated costs is bloody scary, so much so that he's dumped it with the engine specialist to sort out and just gone and bought himself an old shitter (Renault Megane I think he said????) to compete in the Castle Combe GT series this year
Out of interest I went nosing around and found a cheaper, albeit less powerful, track toy in the from of the old Global GT1/Lights
Tidy examples with a trailer and spares can be had for around the

That's an interesting (and oft considered in these parts) option. Light car, designed for track therefore fast, easy on tyres, brakes, fuel, and lots for you to learn as a driver.
In fact Daz (my engine and everything else builder and ex TA driver, and Steve (ex TA supra and arrowpacks racer) are both looking at radicals, or sharing one.
I'm not familiar with the car you're thinking about but for track fun it sounds like a good option. You can also get trick westfields etc for that sort of dough. you can go very fast with these kind of cars for not much money, although I'm interested to see (as I don't know anyone who's done it but you're mate with the radical seems a good example) what the actual costs of running these kind of cars are for a year of fun, rather than racing.
Either way keep me posted on thoughts and options as this is something I'm very interested in knowing more about and I'd be tempted to come viewing with you bud - as an impartial observer of course

Global GT lights are immense fun, pretty damned fast by any standards- let alone compared to heavy road going modified stuff. There used to be a guy local to us that built them....met up with the last time I was at Snett on a trackday and he still raved about them.
As you said Pez; it's all about fun at the end of the day. Let the fun commence
