Cant find it so I'll bung it up here

Those with long memories will remember that I had a little issue a few years ago with a front tyre blowing our on the rangey as it was soft and i was going fast, ahem, 70 on the mway.

Lesson learnt - 3 tonne cars with a lot of power, check the tyre pressures regularly.

Well I've always been a bit slow, and also a bit lazy so despite checking the GTR pressures about 100 time on a TD, the Rangeys rubber has been ignored. Well I did actually put 10psi in them on th way back from the charity day at snett recently, but prior to that it was last years service when they were done I reckon.

So rat look rangey was back today

Image

But fortunately this time it I noticed before one blew...

Image

which is a good thing as it was like that 80% of the way round....oops

Image

So a pricey day on the rangey, full service, full set of brake pads, front suspension bushes, and then some new boots, on top of the

Collected the GTR on Saturday and very pleased. Dan's done a great job on the arches and it's ended up having the bonnet, rear quarters, roof and A pillars and front wings painted so almost a full respray. He even blew the Nismo skirts in to get rid of the run one of them had. None the wiser on the colour though, it turns out to be a custom colour. The finish Dan has got is great and the bonnet has come up a treat. He took so much "product" off it there are two bulges that I didn't know were there.

Due to the shitty weather only have some bad pics but here goes..

Bonnet

bonnet pins now black

Image

rear screen has new rubber now, should help a lot as when the car was painted previously they re-used the old one and it was never good, so hopefully this one will help stop the bubbles coming back

Image

rear Quarters - quite like it with no stickers at the moment, or maybe it's the no rust that I'm liking :)

My Splitter turned up this week too so I persuaded Daz to give me some ramp time and we put it on. It's an Abflug rep splitter and i went for the fibreglass one as i've no doubt it's going to get massively kerb rashed if the rest of the front end is anything to go by, even if not ripped off compeltely. So ordered black gel coat and will spray satin black with a rattle can for easy touching up.

Although it's not a particularly large splitter I think I may need to get some supports as there's not much meet under the stock splitter to bolt it too, and at 150mph I reckon there will quite a bit of pressure so want to try and prevent it from ripping off and going under the car.

So a flat area under the car, what is I belive known as "aero" in some quarters...

Image

but I had to cut it out to clear my brake ducts...

Image

In fact we ended up cutting more out which i didn't get pics off. Basically a big chunk in front of the wheels had to come off as I'm running so much castor the wheels wouldn't clear on lock. So we took a fair amount out, because part of it was also for fastening to the inner arches which i don't have on my car so were pretty pointless anyway.

Still, i'm quite pleased with it, rubbish pics due to weather and darkness

I think you'll notice the difference on track now with that splitter and undertray fitted.

I'm hoping I don't, well at least not unless its in a good way, I find aero quite scary as there's so much more to it than hanging a wing on a car so i've been trying to avoid it. I'll admit to buying this lip purely for cosmetic reasons, which I'll admit is probably a bit lame :leaving:

From how I see it you are a quick driver who likes to push hard so you will notice the improved grip/turn in on faster corners. As I don't push our car as hard as Alan it makes fuckall difference to me but I can feel the difference when Alan is driving.

The guy has made a nice job of that bonnet and i never noticed the rust on the back arches , they have also come up nice . I bet you can't wait to get the car to the track to see if that undertray makes a difference:D . Pete

See what you mean pabs

Cheers Pete. Although I'm actually keener to try the next toy.

Have ordered a Sylab TCS Fusion. This is the latest version of the Skylab G sensor which is digital and claims to give the r32, R35 equalling response times it terms of the 4wd etc.

It also allows you to control the 4wd seperately, with one controller for 4wd application during cornering and one for acceleration/decelleration.

This will be great in the wet as it will enable me to dial more 4wd for cornering, which I can then stop before the point of creating understeer, while maxing 4wd on the straights, thus maximising traction. Which is good, as the GTR is a bit of handful on a wet circuit. Last time out at snett there was no point in even running in the pm on the sodden track.

Well, that's the theory anyway, I usually flick the 2wd only switch when trackdays turn wet

So looking forward to trying that out....
