Surely the first changes should be point/s for pole position and fastest lap.
Maybe point for most laps led
New regs out today-
The FIA has confirmed a new pole position trophy will be introduced from the 2014 season onwards.

An updated version of the 2014 Sporting Regulations has been released by the FIA, with article 6.7 reading: "A trophy will be awarded to the driver who sets the most pole positions during the championship season (see Article 36.2). In the event of a tie the holder of the greatest number of second places will be taken into account and, if there is still the tie, the holder of the greatest number of third places and so on until a winner emerges.

"If this procedure fails to produce a result, the FIA will nominate the winner according to such criteria as it thinks fit."
Finishing off the Ford ;)

As nice as a pole position trophy should be for the drivers I think unless it is backed up with a race win on the day it could end up being a bit of a slap in the face. Case in point Lewis Hamilton 5 poles (how many leading to race wins in 2013?) and Nico Rosberg 3 poles (how many leading to race wins in 2013?)

In many ways a pole trophy could be viewed in the same light as the F1 channel pit stop trophy....nice to have but pretty much means diddly' squat.

I think they could place a lot more focus on spectator interaction, maybe introduce a competition whereby spectators submit their own qualifying position prediction prior to Q1.

At the end of Q3 Five entrants names (+1 additional adult if appropriate) are drawn live by one of the drivers/F1 channel hosts in front of the crowd. The five lucky spectators then get a televised 15 minute walk around the pit lane with Ted Kravitz and get to meet some drivers/team principles/mechanics.
[img] Q. If you were stranded on a desert island, who would you rather be stranded with....Ray Mears or Bear Grylls?

A. No question....Ray Mears....you could make a shit load more stew out of that tubby little fecker [/img]
