I'd be interested to see when the last time any of you guys purchased a book new, purchased one for your Kindle or bought second hand from Amazon/Ebay/car boot sale and what type of book it actually was (fact/fiction/autobiography etc.)
I've been penning a novel for little over a year now and am just a bit curious as to who is buying and reading what, so I figured I'd start asking about on forums
When was the last time you bought a book?

[img] Q. If you were stranded on a desert island, who would you rather be stranded with....Ray Mears or Bear Grylls?

Hahhahahaha
I'm laughing because I am about to get slaughtered! I bought Gok's new cooking book from Tesco's last week. I love food, cooking and everything that goes with it (that's my excuse)

I didn't even know Gok could cook? I thought he was a clothes designer of some sort
With regards to cook books for this Christmas I think Nigella's latest offering "In between the lines" will be quite an informative read

All the time, loads.
Real books though, while the kindle is better than reading off a screen, dosnt seem as relaxing as real pages, bit of a ludite I guess. Last 5 books:
Code Noir by Marianne de Pierres. Cyberpunk.
The Man Who Broke Napoleon's Codes: The Story of George Scovell. By Mark Urban. History.
The Butt by Will Self. Comedy.
No Angel. By Tom Bower. Biography of Bernie Eccelstone. (badly written, but interesting).
Time for Bed by David Baddiel. Comedy.

"Does the mullet make the man?"
While we're on a literary subject matter, I would strongly recommend Dan Walsh's "Days like this....."
Bloody excellent. Life changing for me.

Not bought a book for a few years now, funny enough ever since the recession started.
Prior to that mainly cook books as again love food and entertaining.
All Jamie Oliver's book books.
Few years back did revisit my youth, a book that I read for A level English Literature and was a right head f**k
William Golding - The Spire

Cookery books I deffo buy in 'real' format, hairy dieters books are packed with simple yet very tasty receipes.
I never buy any fiction books in real format anymore preferring to buy them on the Kindle, mainly because I love technology and love the ability to carry loads and loads of books without the backache associated with that (especially when going on holiday!).
Lee Child, Chris Ryan, Andy Mcnab books are really good and also love biographies with Ranulph Fiennes, Bear Grylls, Ron Jeremy (yes, surprisingly interesting) and even Arnies book being recent favourites. If you can get the books written by former SAS members telling of the time they spent then they are always pretty inspiring, funny and genuinely humbling.
So with the Gok book then Stu, is there a big reveal once it has been cooked ?!!!? His Dad owned a restaurant didn't he so he grew up learning culinary skills.
