MOT: June/July 14 (from memory, will check)
ICE: O.E. Head unit. (JBL GTO speakers front, O.E. rear)
Extras: Snorkel, Offroad mud/Snow tyres, Pajero front fog lamps, 60mm nudge bar, Marine electric horns,
plastic bug guard.
Plus Points:
When purchased back in 2010 the truck had a new cylinder head, top end gaskets/seals, water pump, idler
bearings, radiator, thermostat, stretch bolts and whole exhaust system changed. Recently had an oil + filter
change by myself for Castrol diesel oil.
Upgrades:
I wasn’t happy with the original circular lights as the light throw out was poor. So I retrofitted GDI crystal
headlights and grill, not only does it produce more reflective light and spread, but overall it also looks
physically better. The truck also never had roof rails which was a draw back. So again I retrofitted O.E. SWB
roof rails onto the truck, this was carried out correctly by myself and is fully weather sealed from inside the
cabin.
Problems:
The O.E head unit CD player is very intermittent with certain CDs. The original KMH instrument cluster stopped
working, so I fitted a 1996 MPH cluster which reads a different mileage. However I do have on the recent MOT
the previous vehicles mileage listed.
Body/Interior:
The truck is very solid throughout, nothing rotten underside or on the body. There are two small dings on the
bodywork, one is on the rear 'C' pillar and the other one is on the nearside wing - but the paint has not
cracked on either one. From a tarty aspect I fitted a pair of colour coded door mirrors. Again they’re in full
working order.
The interior is excellent condition, there aren't any digs, tears, burn holes or stains on any of the upholstery. It
has the fold down bed option interior which is surprisingly comfy for a vehicle. It also has a new front
windscreen which retains the heated wiper blade option, as well as a new rear black laminated window.
Tyres:
It comes with four offroad mud and snow tyres. They are the Kingpin BF Goodrich copies but are actually really good on and off road.
Engine:
Standard 4M40 unit with TF035 turbo. Kick down system and overdrive work perfectly fine.
Transmission:
Gear changes are very smooth and change quickly on kick down.
4WDmission:
It has the full Super Select system that allows you to change from RWD > 4WD whilst on the move. Rear LSD
lock on the next motion and then finally a rear and centre diff lock. Again these are controlled from the cabin
and are working perfectly.
Suspension:
The suspension is still OE which is much better than the aftermarket ones people fit when they stop working.
These are EDFC dampers that you can control from the cabin, all four corners work fine.
Extras:
I was in and out of restoring the O.E. hard plastic wheel cover, needs very minor work to finish off. (skim and
repaint) I have all the hardware etc to complete once painted up. If needed too, I can supply all the original
text vectors I drew up for the cover so you can have them printed by a vinyl company.
I also have the later GDI front corner bumpers which have provision for lower driving lamps. This was going to
be a project for the future as the parts are in need of serious repair and rework. If you do not want them, just
let me know and I’ll recycle them.
Photos:
Everyone in the club knows this truck, but for those that don't here is a public FB album of photos of the
Pajero after our own Auto-Genie gave it a spruce up!
