Graveyard.....cheeky !!
Nervous....me.....heck yes !! Anyone would be considering the car hasn't been off the drive in 2 years and has had turbo kit, fuel injectors and lines, vmount, single turbo loom, battery rewire, fuel pump rewire etc done. As Dom said its woken up from hibernation only to be ragged on a dyno.....how would you feel
A day of mixed emotions though....more on that in a bit.
Firstly though I want to start by saying what an absolute belter of a company APT is and without Garys knowledge, experience and parts....Dannys rolling road setup skills and the new SCA chaps tea making skills we would have been up the creek. So a big big thanks to all for your help and sorry we messed you around.....we had no idea that the guy from Lincoln was gonna muscle in and steal our tuner for practically the whole day !!
I'll let Dom fill you in on his trip to APT, damn rewiring and relays !!
Anyway the long short of it is the chap from Lincoln had issues including a fuel line hose (made of the wrong material and very lucky by al accounts not to have had any problems on the way here) which Gary fixed and then coil pack issues meant that poor Dom and I didn't get Jaydees time till about 3pm. Luckily Alistair sorted my MOT in the arvo whilst I was waiting.
Doms dyno run went well despite my cringing at how the car sounds on boost and made good figures over last time and very impressive spooling. Gary, please can we have the dyno graphs if poss please ?
Then it was my turn.....as it was late now there was no change of cruise mapping on the road to make sure things were running ok so Gary and Jaydee did it on the dyno. Then after a number of issues like the greddy profec spec b 2 boost controller giving up the ghost (Gary again came to the rescue) some mapping continued. At a smidge under 350 though the car behaved like the bitch it always is and decided it wasn't going to give consistent fuel behaviour (which was odd as the FPR gauge was rock steady and we couldn't see or smell evidence of a leaky hose). The boost was at 07something and at 6000rpm the power was tailing off which was not expected with the turbo I had. Anyway after more checking etc Jaydee thinks it is down to the fuel pump (Supra one which I was assured would be ok). I can hear Gary saying 'told you so at me'...point taken mate.
So the car was taken off the dyno, personally speaking I'd have liked more time doing the cruise stuff as when driving it home you can feel at certain pedal movements the car judders a bit which I'm suspecting is because the fuel hasn't been changed on the map but can avoid that by careful use of the throttle. The positives are the car is MOT'd and can be taxed and I can actually drive it now but just not go over 0.5 bar. Had a few light squirts and the car certainly felt quick but more importantly I can get out there and will pop along to the charity day next week. I have a shopping list of things to buy now (anyone recommend anywhere to buy boost controllers) and will be getting Jaydee up before xmas again (Gary and Jaydee time permitting).
Plus I will make sure I'm first in line with Jaydee !!!
Again, a massive thanks to the APT guys and nice to speak to a number of you on the day.
