Not trying to warn you off or anything mate. Just have substantial knowledge of Stageas.john B wrote:Yeah I hear what your saying mate.....however I am lucky enough that most of my mileage is business mileage so it gets paid for and in terms of a practical car It will hopefully be better suited for what I need now.If not not with the magic of Auto Genie I will get it looking good and move it on !
Hope yo enjoy it. Has a snow mode which may come in handy. One of the Nissan adverts in Japan showed one on a snowy road.

Saw the 'Volvo' (I mean Stagea) today and thought it looked pretty good. Much better in the flesh and it certainly is a big car.
Is any car with a 2.5l engine economical, let alone one with a turbo and Johns heavy foot
Also looking forward to the Genie working his magic on it, think it will really come up a treat.

Well Auto Genie.....has been working his magic today on the shed. ... had the seats out this morning to allow better access and left Stu to it and what a job he has done.
I am really pleased with the results and the attention to detail that Stuart paid to the car.....he was doing stuff I hadn't even noticed.
I will let Stuart add his own words and pictures later...there are a few little bits to tackle still but on the whole looking so much better and its my dirt from now on not someone else's. .
Thanks again Stu. Really very much appreciated.

Thanks John; kind of you to say
I was pleased with the amount that was achieved in the time available, and also the improvements made.
I'm editing the photos now, and I'll add some to this project thread shortly

OK, a brief run-down on the job.
John had told me that his priority was the interior and that he wanted me to concentrate on removing stains, dirt and muck, as well as a lingering odour too. The carpets and seats would definitely need vacuuming, shampoo and further cleaning so that would be my starting point. If any time became available to move onto the exterior, it would need to be decided upon on the day.
Starting point

This was the muck removed from the steering wheel alone!!

Far from perfect but a big improvement in cleanliness, the smell and John's ability to enjoy the interior!

With the interior sorted out it was time to switch attention to the outside. The alloys needed a bloody good clean, the bonnet had a few deep scratches on it and the black trim had faded badly, so there was a few areas to crack on with
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/93963817@N07/10072609483/" title="IMAG0267 by Stuart Staples, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7380/1007 ... 95bb_c.jpg" width="478" height="800" alt="IMAG0267"></a>

No time for mid-job pics but essentially it was carefully washed, alloys where cleaned inside and out, tyres and arches were cleaned, it was partially dried, then it rained again, so it was dried once more inside. The bonnet was machine polished to reduce the scratches and deeper marks (see photo), then the whole car was sealed/waxed, and the tyres and black trim were treated.

So there we are. A lovely car, incredible value for money and a cracking daily driver for those that want something a bit different. The looks this got when parked at Tesco's was comical; no one knew what it was!!
Thanks John
