Vettel is a very quick driver and can on the pace right from the start as are Alonso and Hamilton but at the moment Vettel has the better car. As soon as I saw that Rosburg was 2nd on the grid I knew it was going to be a boring race. He's a good driver but like Button he takes a few laps to get up to speed in a race thus allowing Vettel to walk off into the distance. Hamilton was on hios way to becoming a great driver then his ego set in and he sacked his old man as his manger, the diamond earings came out, designer beard and then it went tits up when he turned the McClaren pit garage into a set off mtv gangster rap.
RedBull have been the only team to bring a gun to F1 the rest of the paddock have been turning up with knifes.
Lets hope that the rule changes for next season allows the rest of the grid to close the gap. Although my fear is that F1 will end up like WRC and who watches that anymore.
1.6 turbo charged shopping cars = retail park on a sunday night. No wonder streetracing is on the increase.
Vettel boo'ed yet again
Do you not remember the late 80's formula 1 era.....small capacity turbo engines with huge power !pablo wrote: 1.6 turbo charged shopping cars = retail park on a sunday night. No wonder streetracing is on the increase.
Ok some were not fantastically powerful but still great fun to watch..... I know that with modern ECU technology I'm sure we won't see the cars squirming and sliding but we will see.....I'm sure they won't be much slower than todays cars....
The only real thing that will be missing is the noise !
Ah Ferrari V12 mecanical music.....

While they're going to be similar to the 1.5l Turbo's from the 80's, unfortunately they're going to be fuel restricted to around half what they use now, while having to last 5 races at a time (turbo included). There's been reports of some not lasting enough mileage in testing, with some epic turbo explosions. Ferrari have been lobbying for a raise to the limits, which has prompted suggestions that they can't make them last/do the power.
Quoted figures are around 650 + approx 150 from KERS and ERS (basically a KERS unit attached to the turbo), so similar to today's V8's 800+bhp. They're direct injection and rev limited to 15,000 but many reckon the fuel flow limits will restrict them to around 12,000.
The simulated lap of Monza that Merc put out sounded awful- but it was recorded in a dyno cell and likely to have been 'tweaked' so other Teams couldn't get useful info from sound analysis.

Finishing off the Ford

If there was any chance of the modern cars being anything like the 1.5 turbo cars from the 80's i would be very excited but in this age of eco friendly, noise free world crap that we live in i just cant see it happening.
It's all a gimmick and a joke to be honest as i'm fairly sure that the fleet of lorries that carry the F1 circus around the globe use more fuel than an F1 car.

Not solar powered .......all he teams will stay at their headquarters and race in the simulators at the same time. ..data link them together and there you have it the worlds most expensive gaming solution.
And of course they won't moan about getting wet or another nasty driver pushing them off the track etc....

Just saw this thread...
I do respect the fact that there is alot of talent with Vettel, as others have said his race craft in the pack is not as strong as others IMO. When he was stuck behind JB in the Hungarian GP... if Vettel was the driver he apparently is, wouldnt he just of passed JB rather than getting stuck?
I think there is alot on Vettels side. Having one of the best technical engineers - Adrian Newey and all the BS which has happened with Mark overs the years just clouds it for me in terms of how much of the pace comes from him versus the car.
In the interview Damon Hill had with Jacques Villeneuve recently, Jacques absolutely hit the nail on the head for me when he spoke about Vettel overtaking Mark and all the BS. "If you cannot win without honour what is the point?" - or words to that affect. To me that is why he is boo'ed. People and me included want to see the guy who has worked for the wins...not the guy with the fastest car so its easy to win... not the guy who overtakes his team mate when his team mate has been told he wouldnt...not the guy where he seems to be so massively favoured by the team and Bernie.
2014 will be interesting - who do people have there money on?
The fact Mercedes have basically chucked money at the best people and now have a top heavy team my money would be on them. As it has been mentioned rumors are pointing to Ferrari having engine issues in terms of output and reliability so I would not be betting on them. As I understand it Lotus have money issues so I am not sure how they will progress next year also without Kimi...Currently I dont think McLaren have got the drivers but who knows if they have a amazing car JB could work his magic again like he did with Brawn GP. Other than a outside team (or someone I have missed) and given the amount money people are having to pump into next year its Red Bull Vs Mercedes. Lewis knew that in 2012 I suspect, hence the move.. IMHO it was never about this season or the money
Sorry bit of a rant!
