well that was fun!!.......... :-/

started off by removing the old intercooler and sizing up the larger one...

Image

had a pipe already on it that would allow me to keep a DV on ( in this case my recirc ) however the pipe that came with it wouldn't reach the turbo... panic set in thinking I would now have to put it back together to go get a longer 90 degree hose but had an epiphany and used my existing back pipe to make it reach.....

unfortunately this meant running without a DV but luckily I already bought a 35mm bung to carry on...

as you may know you need to swap the brackets and chop the top of the clutch fluid reservoir to get this beast to fit....

Image

Image

I had a bit of a fight with the intercooler to fit into the hole and get the pipes to meet up....

Image

struggling underneath to loosen the two hoses to pull it down a bit so I could get the turbo pipe to fit back on......

Image

Image

so after several hours it was all in and connected... the bracket on the right hand side is short and so I need to extent it by using some flat steel strip with holes in it to make it reach but it is in good and tight anyway.....

I tried to then proceed with the ECU I also bought but the disconnection of the battery caused my alarm to go off but a phone call solved that for now.... but the car wouldn't start... a bit more research enlightened me as I found out the car's ECU indeed is connected to the factory immobiliser....

it was a MINES STi version 3 ECU running 1.1 BAR ( 16psi )

so I had to put the stock ECU back on and I was up and running again.... better start saving for a daughter board set up :-(

next task was fitting the larger scoop to the 1994 ally bonnet I picked up a few days ago.... angle grinder at the ready I chopped the angled scoop off and drilled holes and used self tappers to retro fit the V8 scoop...

Image

Image

the steel one was a bit heavy but got it off and bolted the ally one on.... now to "modify" the grill.....

thanks to a fellow Scooby owners pics I could see where I had to perform the surgery required to shut the bonnet properly...

Image

might look a bit ugly but when the bonnet is shut you would never know...

Image

a quick trip round the block to make sure all is well and I am very happy with the results... shame about the ECU but you live and learn :-)

Image

thanks for reading.....

Its got ribbed lip things on it and goes straight back on..

was worried about that cos of loosing the tabs but they didnt really work anyway...

any problems and I will just use a self tapping screw to bite the resevoir collar :-)

Not looking forward to try and change the clutch fluid or check the gearbox oil level lol
