Cool. If you do manage to get it to garys today I would chuck some makeshift card ducting in for mapping. It will make a big difference to charge temp and the overall map

Ok good luck. Let us know if you have any questions for the Jedi master and we'll ask him

Update from me, I didn't get it ready for mapping :(
I changed the fuel filter as suggested and after going through all possibilities with Jaydee, Gary, Ben, Dom and John we all figured I couldn't have made a bodge up.

Lucky Jaydee came to the rescue after we took the fuel pump apart again (about 8 times so far this week) and put it back to test. Despite us checking the voltage in the morning and it was 6.31 Volts which is expected to be enough.....lo and behold it wasn't and upon stripping back the connector and trying it direct to the battery we had absolutely loads of pressure !!

So I actually have the bits I need as I was going to do it but ran out of time, it's a common issue of voltage drops in these cars. Therefore next steps are to do that and put the rest back together, add coolant then start it.....gulp !

Massive thanks to all those that helped me today and especially Ben who tidied the whole of my toolboxes and bags of tools and put them all nicely and put all the sockets back in the boxes ! Top job mate.

Good results for the chaps with opportunities for more power ! Big thanks to Gary also for use if the dyno and help where needed.

Just seen this on a thread about fuel pumps for RX7s....

"One disadvantage of the Supra pump is its relatively heavy current draw (at 13.5 V, 16A @ 43 psi, 19A @ 70 psi) and large decrease in flow as supplied voltage lowers. Good, heavy-gauge wiring (meaning re-wiring the fuel pump electrical circuit) is a requirement to get the most out of this pump. "

Aaarrghh if I'd seen this in the first place :(

Funny though, we had discussed upgrading the wiring when we were trouble shooting!. Enjoyed the day and glad it's now getting closer to being sorted. Now don't mess up your tool kits !! ..

But yep I did. Bit more work and put all the tools back properly. Thanks again mate.

Hurrah it lives !!!! Big thanks to Dom and John for suggestions but in actual fact it was down to my own stupidity...........

Dom and I tried on monday night with no joy with the car, it stumbled and then just turned over and turned over with no firing or anything. After deflooding it and trying numerous times again till the battery died we gave up. The week has been spent searching online and discussing with Dom and John what it could be. We knew we had fuel so it wasnt that and obviously air would be fine so it left spark.

Tonight I removed the ignition amp and we checked the coil packs were wired up correctly. After putting premix into the engine we prayed and crossed fingers certain the car would start but no, after deflooding and trying again I suddenly remembered something...........the intake on the turbo (had a cone filter on) still had the masking tape covering the inlet.....whipping the cone filter off we could see instantly that the turbo had tried to suck air and pulled the masking tape towards the blades. Thank fk Stu had wrapped the masking tape tightly (to protect it in transit) and it had held.

Long story short after putting more premix in and cranking it the car fired up.

Has a few issues like various lights being on and the need to hold your foot on the accelerator to stop it dying but it is running and actually running pretty smoothly.

All in all I'm feeling fkin chuffed ! Big thanks for John B for bouncing ideas off (and laughing at our attempt at safety by having a hose ready to put out a fuel fire!!) and of course Dom for all his help getting the thing running.

Top job :)

Tripples all round! Told you it would be something simple :-P

TBH I was relieved when you pulled off the filter and we saw the tape on, I thought to myself...we that will be it then! Otherwise I was all out of ideas!

Really good to see the car running and the fact we bled the coolant while we did it means you know the water seals are sound as we did the champagne test. So not only have you got it running but a clean bill of health which is always a good cure for the rotary paranoia!

To the dyno!
