FD3S Single Turbo Build(Kinda)
Lol no it wasent cheap (its one of Ed's on FDUK), but I came to the decision any money I spend on the car could be undone by the 20 year loom!
I am tempted but I am not sure yet, if we have enough people who need maps done/tweaked/checked so we can get JayD up in Norwich and everyone is ready fairly soon then I will do it. Otherwise I will give the car to powergains , they can do the map, loom and maybe some other bits.

Getting less by the day! Got the turbo back today the EGT bung has been put it... cost me a fiver to have that done! Bargin!Pantera Chris wrote:Yeah you dont wana be wrapping that manifold. Will get too hot and warp / crack.
Nice work mate. Lots to do!!
Looking at where the turbo is going to be sat now I think its going to be quite close to the rubber which covers the steering column so I am looking at protecting that. I saw on John B's some heat shield tape had been used so I might use that or I might make up a metal shield and paint it black...because tart.
After that sort out oil lines which I am pretty much there on, then get the wide band sorted. Once all that is done the car should be drivable...
Good going Dom.......at this rate you'll have it done by about 10pm!!

Funny you should say that I have just come back from this evening stint, just wanted to look at the heat shielding as I had a spare bit of metal sheet left.Stuart wrote:Good going Dom.......at this rate you'll have it done by about 10pm!!

The sheet is about the right size as I need to leave some room for the oil line but I think its not far off. Also I get the picture everyone wants to see, of the turbo sat on for the first time! I also have a heat shield for the top of the turbo but I have no idea how to fit it.
I need to get something to protect the vacuum pipes which are silicone which run to the wastegate, anyone got anything they would recommend?
Ahhh can you get stuff with a sticky back? I shall get looking on the bayRX7 wrote:Looking good Dom.
Cant you wrap the tubing in heat resistant tape ?
Ermm not sure if it will be running Sunday, it might be running but I dont think I drive it to Snetterton as I will have to drive it off boost. Now me and boost are like a Fat kid and cake....
