Jesus......that sounds awful. How's the oil pressure? When it dropped off the jack it hasn't clumped the sump or something has it?

This is the thing that has really got me stumped because I checked again the underside of the car yestreday to see if I missed something first time and there's nothing out of place or bent from the jack?

I've systematically gone through oil checks (all good), coilpacks (all good) and fuel (again all good but I will plumb in my FPR with gauge just to treble check on fuel pressure).

I checked all of the vacuum hoses, of which there are about a million on a zed, and I can't find anything that has become dislodged?

I mis-read the aftermarket boost gauge previously as I thought it was reading good boost but it's actually reading '0 psi' at quite high revs so I figure there's a boost leak somewhere. It may even be that the passenger side turbo is fucked from the drop although it does look fine from the outside. However the drivers side turbo is a lot harder to see so that may also have taken a whack

I'll be getting it up on the ramps in the next day or so to get a better look, in the meantime I'll be systematically dis-connecting and re-connecting all of the vacuum hoses again......joy!

Could be way off here, but aren't Z32s supposed to have an inherent problem with the fuel injectors that can cause them to die?

That or the CAS key being worn?

I'm getting closer to finding the problem (in as much as I can change the symptoms depending on what I disconnect etc).
I've got a horrible feeling that air is being sucked in from else where, maybe a crack (would a cracked manifold cause air/fuel/running at idle issues?)

Cracked inlet manifold (or bad gaskets) would do that

That's what I thought, and that would be an engine out job!

I only just got to watch this but as I listened the first thing that sprang to mind was that it sounded manifoldy. I caveat that with not having the first clue what I'm talking about of course. Could it really have cracked a mani, or moved one just by falling off the TJ? esp if didn't land on anything other than it's wheels....?

I'm not sure mate, it's a hard one because until I get it on the ramps I can't really get a good view.

I spent most of today fault finding......which depending on which way you look at it (ie. I didn't find the fault) was a big fat failure of a day

I did make this though :)

Image

So I'm not completely shit.....just mostly shit!

The panel isn't finished yet, clearly, but maybe a bit of paint a few bolts and a bit of rubber strip around the edges, should see it done.

After packing up I then went into my workshop and set to stripping down one of the GT675RS tubs, and my God did Ztech fuck that up!!!

bent and crushed oil pipes, hand tight banjo connectors, hand tight bolts, a bodged re-machined turbo housing (fuck knows why they did that?) and generally a balls up of a job

still, at least it'll keep me busy

I've arranged with a specialist up in Wolverhampton to get the zed in and go over it with a fine toothed comb and sort the problems out. Depending on what we find when we're up there will determine my next course of action

If the mani's need fitting then it's an engine out job, and if the engine needs to come out then it would make sense for the forged lump to go in instead......but I'm not sure that I want another VG in there so have been discussing with Mitch up at Drift Garage, the possibility of carrying out a 1JZ or 2JZ conversion

We'll see as the Ultima is still on the cards

Hope you get it sorted soon. If there is anything I can do to help when you bring the car up let me know as you'll be in my neck of the woods and even closer to Alan.
