Little update, theres been a typical BM nervousness at the front end pointing to worn bushes etc, and having looked it through with a BMW guru, the near side drop link is worn, as is the offside rear mount on the front wishbone. I m going to replace the lot with E30 bits as an upgrade, so the front should feel.amazing afterwards. The only other thing of note was the car needs some love underneath for rust proofing, but I knew that already. Everything else is ok!

And sorting those chav plates out ;)
Should be a nice, cheap daily mate. Save up for some winter tyres too as I know you can't drive a wet stick up a dogs arse :D

The plates are done mate-relax. As are the mats and the crusty auxiliary belt.

A few minor jobs done, headlamps swapped over (half the lamps were nt functional I discovered),handle brake cover done and internal mirror getting sorted and entirely for Stu's benefit, got a photo of the new plates.

Much betterer :) I presume that you have arranged for a separate delivery address for this stuff as your Mrs would have your nuts on toast if she knew of this expenditure!

Front end suspension overhaul...

Post by Rob S »

Well today went well, and loads of knackered bits were removed and replaced with shiny new improved parts :)

I started the day with this lot......

Image

The morning was spent pulling off crusty components and saggy bushes (please don't draw any personal comparisons)

Image

With tie rods knackered, bushes and joints slack it was no wonder the car felt looser than it should be across poor road surfaces and cambers.

Getting there......

We ran out of time to do the hand brake adjustment and new rear brakes, but driving it home I was blown away by the feel and turn in, and am looking forward to the next installment :)
