I guess GTR is a bit like the Integra of yours Chris. You can drive it normally but you have to drive balls out in the VTEC to make it drive fast. However I didnt think the GTR was that slow all through the rev range but I guess compared to the close ratio gearbox and the instant boost of the Scoob it probably felt it.

But yep I have to agree with Ben the biggest change is the plethora of parts that can be bought cheaply as thats always something I'm wary of with the RX7 despite there being a healthy amount of people breaking them all the time.

I loved the GTR of Bens and Stuarts and we had endless pleasure having spirited runs comparing the cars. The best being on Sculthorpe track where they both werent particularly modded and the Skyline would pull away from standing but from rolling the Rex had it. Plus I cant forget the drive of Stuarts Skyline on the Ring, something I will never ever forget.

Both very impressive cars, both fors and againsts. Simple answer for me is if I had the money for either it would be the Skyline but for a very close second it would be the Scooby. But then I'll never get rid of my (non running) Rex :)

Sculthorpe were good times fella .. think I'd had my GTR a week before we headed there and went out on track .. remember that sweeping bend we took sideways :) .. all good fun.

A question for those in the know .. does the Sti come standard with a quickshift? - I need to replace the bushes on the knuckle to tighten up the change - Alyn is my port of call for that, but whilst doing some research wondered If I already had one - how can you tell? - the actual gear lever on mines look likes the bottom of these two shown.

Is the top one a non-quick shift?.

Not a good car week for me - blew a intercooler hose on saturday .. now fixed kind of - awaiting delivery of a longer 70-63mm hose.

Then we spotted that one of my front tyres was sliced open on the side wall - along with a screw in the rear .. so four new Falken 914 Eco's fitted today for a rather bargain price of

Been watching this thread with silent interest Ben, glad to see you back in a turb'd up Jap box, the force was always strong in you :D

So, will you be knocking the shoulders out of those Falkens on track any time soon....?

Not the falkens .. my R888's GG's :) - few more jobs to do - but presently need all my finances for my new business venture.

Once we're up and running and I have replenished my car pot then all the bits will be on order.

Have Gary / Danny fit exhaust and fuel pump.
Order sump from Alyn with fitment for oil temp sender.
Order gear knuckle from Alyn.
Gear oil change, brake fluid change, new plugs.
Replace intercooler pipe - currently the one fitted is a tad short.

Then I'm out there ;)

So, latest - My car is now very quiet ! .. 88db

Replaced the scaffolding pole exhaust (the right hand exhaust) - the new quiet one as you guessed is on the left!.

Image

The old exhaust at idle was 98db, the replacement 88db with an operating level of 96db. Now I don't have the head pumping burble - but sadly already missing the noise. The car sounds almost standard with the replacement.

Image

Looks rather nice though.

Also had the boys change out the gear linkage knuckle, initially I didn't think it had made much difference however after a few minutes I realised that it had made a massive difference - The old one has 2 to 3 mil of play so will send that off to Alyn and have him make me an uprated one.

Gearbox oil changed also.

So as usual a massive thanks to APT for doing the goods on the Type R.
