Fuel surge tank location

Is there any reason why I can't mount a fuel surge tank to the underside of the car or does it have to be above the fuel tank for the overflow to work properly?

Most people seen to put them in the boot, but I'm not keen on that idea and wanted something a bit tidier and hidden away.

I've been looking at these from Integrated Engineering (they also do a dual 044 setup):

I reckon it would make for a tidy setup mounted to the floor by the chassis rail. All the hoses could pretty much follow the standard routing...

You know that I am no engineer, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work save for some of the manufacturers suggesting that the tanks need to be upright. The idea of a stealthy set up would also satisfy your theme of discrete performance

Ok, so I found another alternative that looks to have been specifically designed to mount horizontally:

This one even has the inlets/outlets on the correct sides so is currently winning for me

Well I ordered the one from 034 Motorsport as I liked the low pickup for the pump.

Also ordered a Sard 'jet pump killer', which is basically a high flow version of the in tank venturi for shifting fuel from the other side of the tank.
