PC Help

Post by pablo »

The sound on my PC has packed up:banghead:. Thought it might be the speakers so went out and bought some new speakers, still no sound.....
How hard is it to install a new sound card, is this something a ham fisted baboon could do or do I need to take it to a shop.

Help please......V8 Supercars and no sound:poota:

are you sure its the hardware, not just a windows update or something spooned the drivers?

have a look in the device manager to be sure.

Most modern PCs the sound is built in to the motherboard and its odd for just one bit to die.

I agree with Maffster, it'll be a driver problem I reckon.

What version or windows you using? Have you checked your sound mixer to make sure nothing is muted? If not check device manager for any problems

Windows updates happen in the background and fluff things up on a regular basis, although XP is a bit old to be getting too many.

Its probably an AC'97 driver.

Right click "My Computer"

Click "Manage"

Click "Device Manager"

Expand "Sound Video and Game Controllers"

And screenshot it and bung it up here, should look something like this:

Umm... to print the screen, press the button that says "Print screen" on it.

Go to Microsoft Paint, and do Ctrl+V or select Edit/Paste from the menu.

Save and upload :)
